The Beecroft Band and Strings Program is fortunate to have the support of many parent volunteers who give generously of their time. The dedicated Band and Strings’ committee under the leadership of President, Janine Kissick, works tirelessly and gives generously of its time to enable this program to flourish. The dedication of the students, staff and volunteers, has allowed our Band and Strings Program to make beautiful music for decades. The Band and Strings’ AGM will be held on 7 November at 7:30p.m. in the staffroom. As with each year, pivotel parent committee members will be leaving and new volunteers are needed to take on essential roles on the committee. If you have students who will be joining Band and Strings in 2020, please consider volunteering and nominating for a position on the Band and Strings’ committee. Healthy School Canteen Last week, our P&C Canteen celebrated their NSW Healthy School Canteen certification with a delicious and healthy yogurt, coulis and granola parfait. The new healthy menu, championed by Belinda Varndell, Donna Dubsky and Nina Frykberg, now sees Beecroft Public School as one of a number of school canteens from across the state accredited as a Great Choice Healthy Canteen. Thank you to our amazing canteen staff and the volunteers who provide this valuable service to our students every school day. The P&C also voted to support the canteen in making significant changes to the internal layout and to invest in newer, time saving equipment that will allow the team to further enhance their healthy choices menu. Congratulations to the BPS Canteen team! Silver Awards Congratulations to our outstanding students who received their Silver awards at the assemblies last week. You and your parents should be very proud of this achievement and for your commitment to the school values: respect, responsibility, excellence and participation.

Kindergarten Orientation Last Thursday, we welcomed our 2020 Kindergarten students and their parents to the first of three orientation sessions. At this first session, our parents participated in an information session and learnt about the many great opportunities provided by both the school and the P&C. The children enjoyed some time in the Kindergarten classrooms doing craft and listening to stories. Thank you to our

Eco Corner Report Many hands make light work Thirty knights came to take care of the school veggie gardens on Friday. With so many hands, all the gardens were harvested. Bunches of lettuce, spinach and snow peas were picked and then carefully weighed in the canteen into even bags, before being taken off ready for sale. Eleven bags in total were harvested and sold. This Friday sees the knights preparing the gardens for the holidays. Ben the Green Garden Guru In knowledge we grow

Message from the President Well what an action packed term. Athletics carnivals, fit-a-thons, orientations, discos, movie nights, K-2 concerts and finishing with a band camp. Time for a well-deserved two weeks off. Have a safe break. Movie Night under the Stars Last Friday we had over 250 students and their parents enjoy our Movie Night under the Stars. The movie this year was How To Train Your Dragon 3. The weather, which was so average earlier in the week, was perfect. Thank you to Shannon and her team for putting this wonderful night on. Special thanks to Ruby, Virginia, Edwina, Lyndal and their kids. Special thank you to Douglas McCarthur from Ray White Beecroft who continued their sponsorship of the movie night. Kindergarten Orientation Last Thursday we welcomed for the first time our new students for 2020. The P&C put on a fabulous welcome morning tea for both the parents and some still very hungry new students. A huge thank you to Lyndal for organising this morning tea, ably assisted by Virginia, Emma, Alison, Pradeep, Merryn, Koreen, Amy, Justine, Alex, Berta, Katherine and Charlotte Clayton (student), Lucy van Hooft (student), as well as all the 2019 Kindergarten families that supplied such a beautiful smorgasbord morning tea. September P&C Meeting Last Wednesday was our September monthly P&C meeting. We were brought up to date on all things going on in the school, particularly the new BOOSH building. We voted and approved for the canteen to go ahead with upgrades to its layout and new equipment to help it meet the changing needs and requirements of the canteen healthy food guidelines and the increasing number of students using the canteen for their lunches. Busy days see 300 lunch orders. One third of the school. Congratulations to Belinda, Donna and Nina for helping the canteen meet its new healthy food requirements. #timeforatreat success! Thank you to all the students and staff who chose to partake in our little fundraiser event! Despite the cooler and rainy weather, we had a few brave souls who got wet just to get their hands on the yoghurt pots! All round, the verdict was 10/10 for taste and it was definitely 10/10 for healthy eating!
