SPEECH SHOWCASE In conjuncton with College Read SPEECH SHOWCASE SPEECH SHOWCASE SPEECH SHOWCASE ABOUT EVENT BC Talks Speech Showcase will provide a platform to exhibit spoken expressions of our student body as it relates to topics from 2017-2018 College Read’s book, Spare Parts, by Joshua Davis. ELIGIBILITY Must be currently enrolled at Broward College as a full or part-time student Must read the College Read’s book, Spare Parts (free copies available) Submit a video link to [email protected] by November 10th at noon Commit to being present at the showcase if selected as a speaker SPEECH GUIDELINES The book is an inspirational true story of four undocumented Mexican high school students, who with the guidance of dedicated science teachers, wins an underwater robotics competition against Ivy League teams. Your speech must be based on one of the major topics of the book: perseverance assimilation prejudice legal/illegal immigration robotics inequality teamwork STEM risk-taking innovation poverty mentorship TYPE: Narrative, Informative, Persuasive, or Spoken Word TIME: 5 to 6 minutes ORGANIZATION PATTERN: Any MODE: Extemporaneous THE PROCESS Submit a video link of your speech to [email protected] by Nov.10th at noon. *Must be standing up and wearing appropriate attire in the video. Check email to see if you are one of the 7 selected speakers by Nov. 13th. Present your speech as a showcase speaker on Nov. 17th.
