Transcript of Bayko Master Plan
Our intentions behind your landscape design project were to create a vibrant outdoor space that offered four-season interest, beauty, intimacy and functionality. For this particular landscape, we strived to capture the essence of the location by incorporating existing elements such as architecture, foundation plant material and hardscape features. By understanding and calculating existing elements, we were able to weave together a dazzling landscape that showcased your residence’s most noteworthy features.
Our goal as designers was to create a landscape that was overfl owing with an array of plant material, both bold and simple, that encircled the residence. By planning a colorful and unique landscape design we were able to create graceful transitions with plant combinations, from one area to the next. Throughout the landscape, our design meshes airy ornamental perennials and sculptural wo ody plants to create a strong visual impression. All of the suggested plant specimens exhibit various forms, colors and textures. Their austere beauty creates interest and drama from early spring through the climax of summer, as well the fall and winter.

For this particular garden, along the front of the residence, an array of shrubs have been combined to exploit their seasonal appeal. As spring progresses, fl owers of the
Fothergilla, Abelia and Hydrangea will bloom within weeks of one another. The summer months will be fi lled with large deep rose-red fl ower clusters of the Hydrangea; and the fall will be fi lled with a brilliant display of foliage. Smoldering reds and oranges help ease the garden from summer into
autumn. During the winter months, the Northern Bayberry holds it glossy foliage and waxy berries; and acts as a
magical scene when decorated with ice and snow.
Foundation Shrubs
Focal TreeThe existing Japanese Maple tree has been illustrated in this master plan to be relocated within the front yard’s
foundation planting. If this option is not conducive with the wishes of the client, the Japanese Maple can be replaced by another small, ornamental shade tree.
Options include a Japanese Stewartia, Kousa Dogwood or alternative Japanese Maple cultivar.

Northeast Perennial & Annual Seed Mix
This seed mix is apart of the Ernst Conservation Seed Company Collection.www.ernstseed.com
The Hillside Design is a combination of a native seed mix and large shade trees. Up to 6 existing large trees are recommended to be removed along with the existing thicket. The Crabapples are to remain as understory plantings. The native seed mix from Ernst Conservation Seed Company is a mixture of showy perennials and annuals. Even though the annuals will be short lived, they provide the residence with an initial color palette while the native perennials have an opportunity to establish themselves in the surrounding areas. The proposed shade trees, Paper Birch, will provide seasonal appeal spring through winter with their brilliant chalk white bark. These trees will create a focal point along the hillside from the residential viewshed and provide an obvious link to the landscape surrounding the residence.
