Pastor’s Corner My Dear Friends, Today, Catholic Christians celebrate the Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary time. In today’s reading from St. Paul’s letter to the Romans, we read, “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8: 28). Often, we find ourselves in the valleys of our life journeys, experiencing doubt or trouble. We seem to be walking in perpetual shadows or fogs, and we think the sunshine will never find us again. But today we are reassured that even in the dark valleys of our lives, God is with us, and all of these sorrows have some purpose. In the end, they will work out for the good. Today we welcome Dr. Margarita Nuñez from Mission Doctors Association. Dr. Nuñez is here as part of the Missionary Cooperation Plan in which we participate each year. This plan is part of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and is designed to help support those on the front lines of missionary work throughout the world. Welcome Dr. Nuñez! Sincerely yours in Christ, - Father Bob

WELCOME TO OUR NEW VOLLEYBALL COACH: St. Mary has a new exciting volleyball coach. Her name is Angie Papach. Angie just graduated from Louisiana Tech University where she played all four years on their volleyball team. She ended her outstanding career third in Conference-USA for hitting and also won Second Team All-Louisiana honors. She graduated with a degree in Business Admin-istration. She is presently working volleyball camps in our local area. We are hoping to have an open gym for the girls to meet Miss. Angie and informally start working with her some time later this month. I will be sending out all this information to those who have signed up to play this year. We all welcome Angie and wish her great success with our young athletes.
REQUIRED ATHLETIC FORMS: If your child is considering par-ticipating on any of our athletic teams they must have the 3 required forms submitted before they can officially practice. The falls sports are: Girls Tennis, Co-ed Cross country, Girls Volleyball, Girls Cheer Leading
RETURN OF THE ST. MARY GOLF CLASSIC: I will be chang-ing the date of the St. Mary Golf classic. We WILL NOT be holding it on October 21, 2017. But instead I would like as many of you who have supported our classic to support the Knights Of Columbus golf outing in September. A portion of their profits will go to St. Mary Catholic School in the way of a scholarship for a needed family. Sup-port of their golf outing still goes to the well being of St. Mary School. My plans are to still hold our golf classic but not until the spring. I will pass the new date as soon as I can work it out. Don't worry, I will still be asking you to participate or volunteer to make it the best golf clas-sic we have ever held.
CONCESSION STAND SUPERVISOR: I am looking for a parent or group of parents to help organize and run the concession stand for home games next year. You would be working with me, so you would not be doing this alone. If you would like more information feel free to contact me.
What Is Together In Education? When you shop Harris Teeter brands, a percentage of your purchase is donated to the school that your VIC card is linked to. There are NO LIMITS to how much a school can earn. Linking (or re-
linking) your VIC cards to the Harris Teeter Together in Education program began July 1. Then, on August 1, St. Mary School will start earning for every HT brand purchased with a linked VIC card. Our account number is 1809.
