MENSAHE
Mahalaga ang kamulatan ng mamamayan sa mga impormasyon ukol sa
bawat barangay ng Atimonan. Ang magbigay ng konkreto at angkop na mga
datos ang layunin ng Socio-Economic Profile ng mga Barangay. Ito rin ang
magsisilbing matibay na batayan upang mabalangkas ng Pamahalaang Bayan
ang mga programang pangkaunlaran na ang mamamayan ang higit na
makikinabang.
Ang ating mamamayan ang salamin ng kaunlaran ng bayan kaya ang
progreso ng apatnapu’t dalawang barangay ay pinapahalagahan ng Lokal na
Pamahalaan ng Atimonan. Ang Socio-economic Profile ang testimonya na patuloy
ang pag-unlad ng ating bayan.

KATANGIAN AT INTERPRETASYON SA OPISYAL NA LOGO NG BARANGAY
Ang opisyal na sagisag (logo) ay binubuo ng dalawang hugis na bilog na ang isa
(1) ay kulay dilaw sa loob na sumisimbolo sa liwanag at isa (1) sa loob na kulay puti, na
sumisimbolo sa kalinisan,pagtutulungan at ang ugnayan ng bawat mamamayan sa
barangay.
Ang tore at ulo ng kalabaw na napapaloob sa bilog ay makikita ang pangalan ng
barangay “Barangay Zone I- Poblacion”ang nasa itaas na bilog, at ang pangalan ng
bayan “Atimonan” at probinsya ng “Quezon” na makikita naman sa ibabang bilog at
ang bituin sa tagiliran ng bilog.
Ang gitnang bahagi ng sagisag (logo) ay may larawan ng mga sumusunod sa
sumasagisag sa barangay;
KULAY DILAW - ang kulay ng liwanag ng pag-asa, pagkakaisa at kapayapaan na
ipinaiiral sa barangay.
KULAY PUTI- ang kulay ng kalinisan at busilak na puso na maglilingkod sa bawat
mamamayan na naninirahan sa barangay.
TORE - ito ang sumisimbolo sa katatagan.
ULO NG KALABAW- isang pambansang hayop na sumisimbolo sa kasipagan,
katatagan at walang sawang serbisyo nito sa lahat ng pangunahing
pangangailangan ng mga mamamayan na naninirahan sa barangay.
BITUIN- sumisimbolo sa KISLAP at NINGNING ng katatagan at kasipagan at
pagtiyatiyaga ng mga mamamayan ng barangay.
Ang pagkilala ay ibinibigay sa mga nag-ambag para sa pagsasa-ayos ng opisyal
na sagisag (logo) ng barangay at ito ay ang mga sumusunod:

VISION
Isang barangay na masagana, tahimik at progresibo na
pinamumunuan at pinaninirahan ng mga mamamayang
maka Diyos, makatao, makakalikasan, nagkakaisa at
nakakapagbigay ng mga serbisyo at programang
nakatutugon sa mga pangangailangan ng mga mamamayan.
MISSION
Maging isang barangay na masagana, tahimik at progresibo
at nangunguna sa mga programang pangkalakalan,
pangkalikasan, pangkabuhayan at pangkalusugan na
pinamumunuan at paninirahan ng mga pinuno at
mamamayang nagkakaisa, may pananalig sa Diyos, may
pagmamahal sa kapwa, may paggalang sa batas at
nakakapagbigay ng tapat at mahusay na paglilingkod sa mga
mamamayan ng Barangay.
1. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
KASAYSAYAN NG BARANGAY ZONE-I POBLACION
Ayon sa kasaysayan, si Iskong Bantay ay kilalang tagapagtanggol ng mga
mamamayan ng Atimonan. Sa isang pagkakataon si Isko ay nakipaghamok at nakipaglaban
sa loob ng 24 oras sa mga kalabang pirata. Ang kanyang kasintahan ay binihag kapalit ng
pagsuko ni Isko at ng bayan. Sa tagal ng paglalabanan, si Isko ay nagwagi, nakuha niya
ang kanyang kasintahan at ang bayan ng Atimonan ay naging matahimik. Ito ay nangyari
noong taong 1872.
Ang bantayog o tore na pinagbabantayan ni Isko ay mananatiling nakatindig
hanggang sa kasalukuyan. Ang tore ay pinaganda, nilagyan ng mga hagdanan papuntang
itaas na nilagyan ng grotto ng Mahal na Birhen ng Lourdes. Sa itaas ay kita ang mga paligid
ng kabayanan at dalampasigan na napakagandang tunawin. Ito ay dinarayo at inaakyat di
lamang ng taong bayan kundi maging bisita o estranghero na dumarayo dito sa Sona I. Ang
harapan nito ay nilagyan ng iskultura na ulo ng kalabaw na naging bansag sa Sona I. Ang
tore ay nakatayo sa kalye Iskong Bantay na ipinangalan na rin ay Isko bilang sa pagdakila
at pagkilala sa kanyang katapangan at kabayanihan.
Noong taong 1946 sa panahon ng panunungkulan ni Alkalde Diosdado Amado na
taga Sona I sa bahay ng naging Gobernador Leon Guinto Sr. ay nagtayo ng paaralan.
Tinawag itong Atimonan Academy sa pamamahala ni atty. Mariano Eleazar na taga Lucban,
Quezon kasama rin ang Alkalde Diosdado Amado at iba pa. Lumipas ang ilang taon at ang
paaralan ay nagtayo ng sariling bahay paaralan sa loob ng bayan.
Ang kalawakan at kalakihan ng Sona I ay nababahagi sa anim (6) na distrito.
Simula sa may daang Rizal, Quezon Blvd. hanggang dulo ng pagitan ng Barangay Angeles.
Ang sukat ng lupa ay may 8.4253 ng hektarya ang laki ng Sona I ang siyang pinakamalaki
at may pinaka maraming populasyon ng tao. Mahigit na umabot sa 3,450 na populasyon
ang mga tao. Ang daan ay halos kongkreto na ang karamihan. Ang isa sa pinaka
pangunahing hanapbuhay ng tao ay ang pangingisda na dinarayo ng mga taga ibang bayan
na may malalaking bangka o basing. Marami ring negosyante, propetaryo na may-ari ng
lupa, empleyado o kawani at ang iba pang karamihan ay nasa ibang bansa at naghahanap-
buhay.
Tuwing fiesta, sa pamumuno ng ating butihing Punumbayan Remedios V. Diestro
ay mayroong tinatawag na KARAKOL o Fiesta sa Karagatan. Ang bangka ay naprusisyon
kasama ang mga tao at ang Mahal na Patrona, Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles na inililibot
sa baybaying dagat. Ito ay pagpaparangal at pasasalamat sa ina ng Patrona, upang ang
panghuhuli ng isda ay laging masagana, patnubayan ang mga mangingisda sa kalawakan
ng karagatan sa mga sakuna, sa mga unos na darating at sa kanilang paghahanapbuhay.
Sa tulong at sa magandang pamamalakad ng Punong Bayan, ang kaunlaran ng
Zone I ngayong taong 1992 ay makikita halos ang mga kalye ay sementado. Inayos ang
mga lote ng pamahalaan na ang mga karapatan ng maybahay ay ibibigay na ang mga titulo
nito. Sa pakikiisa at pakikisama ng Sangguniang Barangay sa kanilang mga nasasakupan
bilang namumuno at sa qawa ng Poong Maykapal, ang Sona I ay mananatiling matahimik,
masagana at ligtas sa anumang kapahamakan. Ito ang kasaysayan ng barangay Zone I
noon at ngayon.
2. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Barangay Zone I – Poblacion is one of the coastal and inner barangays of Atimonan, located within the town proper. It is 1 kilometer away from the National Highway bounded on the north by Brgy. Zone II – Poblacion, on the south by Brgy. Zone IV – Poblacion, on the
west by Brgy. Zone III – Poblacion and on the east by Brgy. Angeles.
It has a total land area of 8.4253 hectares per record of Municipal Assessors Office composed of 7 sitios or puroks – District 1, District 2, District 3, District 4, District 5, District 6, District 7. Topography of the barangay is mostly plain. Almost 51% of land is residential while 22% is commercial. Definitive data were specified below:

3. SOCIO-ECONOMIC SECTOR RHU Survey of Population 2014, showed that Brgy. Zone I Poblacion had a population of 3,901. There are more female than male with age distribution revealing 71% of the total population belong to ages 10-59 years old; 16% under 1 year old to 9 years old and 11% belonging to 60 years old and above. This shows that Brgy. Zone I Poblacion has stronger working population than dependent population. School going population (pre-school, elementary, secondary and college) is computed at 35% of the total population and the most common religion is Roman Catholic.

51% or 6.0773 hectares area of the barangay is for residential while 22% is devoted
for commercial land use. There is no existing irrigation system that contributed to the
limited production of farm products, some populace are leaned to poultry production for
additional source of income.

ISKONG BANTAY OBSERVATORY TOWER
Built in 1752 as an observation and defense tower to determine
weather condition and to warn the town folks of impending pirate attacks.
Named in memory of Francisco Tandas, popularly known as
Iskong Bantay, chief defender of the town in the raid of 1872.
