Butterflies are one of the natural riches of Indonesia, and Bali Butterfly Park offers the opportunity to encounter rare and endemic species from all over the archipelago. Hundreds of colourful butterflies are released daily. Among them are famous species such as the Bird Wing Butterfly (Ornithoptera and Troides) Swallow tails and Great Mormon (Papilio). This is one of the biggest butterfly parks in Southeast Asia. Taman Kupu Kupu is in Wanasari just 5 km North of Tabanan. The best time to see the butterflies is early to mid-morning when they arise and take flight.

Atlas beetle (Chalcosoma atlas)
Chalcosoma atlas, like other beetles of the genus Chalcosoma, is remarkable for its size, that can reach a length of about 25–60 millimetres in the females. As common in some Scarabaeidae, the males are larger than the females, reaching a length of about 60–130 millimetres. The males have specialized horns on the head and thorax that they use to fight with each other to gain mating rights with females.

Bali Butterfly Park was opened in 1993 following the International Butterfly Conference that was held that year in Makassar, South Sulawesi, with the idea that Indonesia's rich insect world should be promoted for the Indonesian peoples' environmental awareness.
