Celebration of the Earth’s Goodness Come celebrate the end of the growing season and the harvest of

good produce from the earth with prayer, good food, and a

presentation on the spiritual connection between our efforts to grow

food and our life of faith by Joe Meyer, Director of the Laudato Si’

Scripture Study: The Gospel of Mark This group meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month,

September 17, 2019, through June 16, 2020, from 6:00 to 7:30PM, in

the Granville Room at St. Catherine. It is for anyone who wants to

learn how to read, interpret, and understand the Word of God as

found in Sacred Scripture in order to help deepen your faith and

relationship with God. This year will begin with a study of the Gospel

of Mark. Mark’s Gospel was the first Gospel written and material

from it can be found in both Luke’s and Matthew’s Gospels. Bring

your Bible and be prepared to open it, read it, pray it, and love it. For

Hygiene items are being collected As part of our 7 Days of Service, you are invited to

help Catholic Charities serve those in need. During

September, we will be collecting the following items:

bar soap deodorant laundry detergent (pods or liquid)

shampoo and conditioner toothbrushes and toothpaste

These hygiene items will be bundled at St. Bernadette on

September 25 and distributed throughout southeastern Wisconsin

by Catholic Charities. Thank you for your generosity.

Catholic Stewardship Appeal update Through your support, the Catholic Stewardship Appeal raises funds for

programs and ministries throughout our ten-county archdiocese. Our

2019 parish goal is $13,130. As of August 6, our parish had reached 57%

of that goal with donations of $7,503. Thank you for your generosity!

7 Days of Service projects sign-up Sign-up sheets for our three service projects are available in the

gathering area.

1. Care bundles: Wednesday, September 25, from 6:00 to 8:00PM.

Pack hygiene items into bundles for Catholic Charities to

distribute. Refreshments will be served.

2. Trash pick-up: Saturday, September 28, 11:00AM to 12:00PM.

Meet your fellow volunteers at 105th Street and Mill Road.

Dawn Truitt from St. Bernadette and Peg Harloff from Our lady

of Good Hope will be there to work alongside you.

3. St. Vincent de Paul Hunger Walk: Saturday, September 28.

Carpool will leave St. Bernadette's parking lot at 7:30AM.

Check-in for the walk is 8:00. The walk starts at 9:00. Register

Labor Day Mass at St. Catherine Saint Catherine of Alexandria will have a Mass on

Labor Day, Monday, September 2, at 9:00AM.

Local screening of Invisible Lines Invisible Lines is a documentary that explores the question, “What

does segregation feel like?” through unscripted conversations with

ten Milwaukee residents of color who share their personal stories of

segregation, racism, and prejudice. Join us for a local screening of it

at St. Catherine on September 11, from 6:00 to 8:00PM, in the

Granville Room. This event is free, but please contact Lorrie Maples

by September 4 if you plan to attend: 414-365-2020, ext. 14, or

T-shirt pick-up Pick up your new NMCP t-shirts after all Masses this weekend

through September 15. After September 15, they can be picked up in

the parish office. Payment is by cash or check, $7 per shirt.

Bible Basics Have you ever decided to read the Bible but just didn’t know where

or how to begin? If you have basic questions about the Bible, then

this informal “kitchen table” style group might be for you. Bible

Basics will take place the second Tuesday of the month,

September 10, 2019, through June 9, 2020, from 9:30 to 11:30AM, in

the St. Catherine parish office. Bring your own Bible or use one of

ours and get to know your way around the Bible. For more

Homebound ministry underway Sister Jane Mary, our new Pastoral Minister, is calling

homebound parishioners for follow-up visits for

Communion or other sacramental needs. Please call

Sr. Jane Mary at 414-352-1148, ext. 205, if you would like to be

included for visits or know someone who would like to be included.

Medical Mission at Home The term “medical mission” often refers to volunteer

caregivers who travel to other countries to provide

medical services. Ascension Wisconsin’s

Medical Mission at Home in Milwaukee does the

same thing for neighbors in need right here in our

own community. This is a day of free medical, dental,

and social services to serve all of those in need of

care. It will take place on September 14, from 8:00AM

to 2:00PM, at North Division High School (1011 West

Center Street). Some of the free services offered are

medical evaluations, laboratory testing, x-ray/

mammography, foot care, dental care (first come,

first served), pharmacy/medications, specialty

services, spiritual services, and community

resources. No insurance is needed. Everyone is

welcome. For more information, go to
