AUTO-DARKENING WELDING HELMET

When using tool, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to equipment. Read all instructions before using the tool.

WARNING: The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual can not cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which can not be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.

1. Work area condition. Cluttered areas invite injuries.2. Additional work area conditions. Do not use machines or power tools in damp

or wet locations. Do not expose to rain. Keep work area well lighted.3. Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the work area. Do not

let them handle machines, tools or extension cords.4. Store idle equipment. When not in use, tools must be stored in a dry location to

inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and keep out of reach of children.5. Use the right tool for the job. Do not attempt to force a small tool or attachment

to do the work of a larger industrial tool. There are certain applications for which this tool was designed. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was intended. Do not modify this tool and do not use this tool for a purpose for which it was not intended.

6. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry as they can be caught in moving parts. Protective, electrically non-conductive clothes and non-skid footwear are recommended when working. Wear restrictive hair covering to contain long hair.

7. Use eye protection. Always wear ANSI approved impact safety glasses underneath a full face shield during use. Also wear heavy duty work gloves.

8. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not reach over or across running machines.

9. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. The handles must be kept clean, dry, and free from oil and grease at all times.

10. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Check that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from the tool or machine work surface before starting work.

11. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, use common sense. Do not operate any tool when you are tired.

12. Check for damaged parts. Before using any tool, any part that appears damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Any part that is damaged should be replaced.

13. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use accessories intended for use with this tool.

14. Do not operate tools if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgment or reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the tool.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR WELDING HELMET

1. Welding helmet is designed to protect the eyes and face from sparks, spatter, and harmful radiation under normal welding conditions. They will not protect against severe impact hazards, including fragmenting grinding disks, and they must never be used for grinding.2. This helmet will never protect against explosive devices or corrosive liquids.

Machine guards or eye splash protection must be used when using this welding helmet.

3. Impact resistant, primary eye protection, spectacles or goggles that meet current ANSI specifications, must be worn at all times when using this welding helmet.

4. Avoid work positions that could expose unprotected areas of the body to spark, spatter, direct and/ or reflected radiations. Use adequate protection if exposure can not be avoided.

5. The outside of lens must be equipped with outside protection plate to prevent potential unrepairable hazard.

6. Change the scratched or broken lens frame that reduces visual field and protection as soon as possible.

7. Change the scratched or broken protection plate, do not bump into lens during replacement.

8. Before welding, select proper shade number according to welding process.9. The operating temperature range is 23°F to 131°F (-5°C to 55°C). When

ambient temperature is below the lower limit, the response speed of liquid crystal materials of lens frame assembly slower a little, no other protections will be affected.

10. Do not store lens frame in a location near a heat source or in a high moisture place.

11. Do not clean lens frame with alcohol, gasoline, or diluted solvent, and do not immerse it into water.

12. Frequently change the sweatband.13. Change failure parts with the parts provided by the supplier.

UNPACKING

OPERATING PROCEDURES

INSTRUCTIONSWhen unpacking the tool:1. Carefully remove the tool and accessories from the box.2. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included.3. Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred

during shipping.4. Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully inspected and

satisfactorily operated the tool.

1. Move the battery cover downward and open it at first. Then install two “AAA” alkaline batteries at the direction shown on the cover. Move the cover upward, ensuring the cover is locked.

2. Tear off the protective film inside and outside the surfaces of lens.3. When switched on prior to welding, the filter screen is in a transparent and

clear state, enabling a clear vision on work piece. When starting welding, it automatically changes the filter screen from clear to dark state. When welding stops, the filter screen automatically changes from dark to clear state.

4. Adjust the time-delay switch according to the different welding process.5. Adjust the shade number knob according to the different welding current and

welding process to select proper shade number. Refer to table 1.6. Adjust headband:

a. Firstly turn the headband until its’ adjustable knob is at the head's rear position. Manually press and at the same time rotate the adjustable knob counter-clockwise to increase the circumference of the headband, or rotate the knob clockwise to decrease the circumference.

b. Adjust the overhead band to one of the custom fit positions for proper helmet depth.

c. Undo the block nut, so the peg on the side of the welding helmet moves in the stop and sets the eye distance to filter.

d. Turn the limitation washer to finely adjust the viewing angle of the filter screen.

MAINTENANCE1. Clean the welding lens by a clean lint-free tissue or cloth with residential glass

detergent. Do not immerse in water or other liquid. Never use solvents or oil to dilute detergent.

2. Use neutral detergent to clean headband.3. Never directly strike lens.

WARNING: If any part is missing do not operate the tool until the missing part is replaced. Failure to do so could result in possible serious personal injury.

This XTREME GARAGETM brand AUTO-DARKENING WELDING HELMET carries a 1-Year Limited Warranty to the original purchaser. If AUTO-DARKENING WELDING HELMET fails within one (1) year from the date of purchase, simply bring this tool with your original sales receipt back to your nearest MENARDS® retail store. At its discretion, XTREME GARAGETM agrees to have AUTO-DARKENING WELDING HELMET replaced with the same or similar XTREME GARAGETM product free of charge, within the stated warranty period, when returned by the original purchaser with original sales receipt. Notwithstanding the foregoing, this limited warranty does not cover any damage that has resulted from abuse or misuse of the Merchandise. This warranty: (1) excludes expendable parts including but not limited to batteries; (2) shall be void if this AUTO-DARKENING WELDING HELMET is used for commercial and/or rental purposes; and (3) does not cover any losses, injuries to persons/property or costs. This warranty does give you specific legal rights and you may have other rights, which vary from state to state. Be careful, AUTO-DARKENING WELDING HELMETS are dangerous if improperly used or maintained. Seller’s employees are not qualified to advise you on the use of this Merchandise. Any oral representation(s) made will not be binding on seller or its employees.
