Django Unchained

■ Django Unchained is one Tarantino’s great films. A good example of his trademark camera shots is the crash zoom when Leonardo DiCaprio character is introduced, this shot is used to draw the audience’s attention to a specific part of the screen. This is also seen in Kill Bill which was also made by Tarantino.

western this has been used by him in recent years with films like the Hateful Eight, he make these films to pay tribute to the dying genre.

■ Over the top violence is also used in this film multiple times, an example is when Django shoots someone they would explode with their guts flying everywhere.

Kill Bill

■ This film is another example where Tarantino uses his trademark Crash Zoom. The use of the crash-zoom in this scene gives the feel of a 1970s ‘kung-fu’ movie, where the master teaches the student through the use of a montage. The camera zooms into the wooden board as Pai Mei powers his fist through it with no trouble to show the experience that he has that makes him a master.

■ The theme of Kill Bill is once again dark and over the top violence with blood and guts everywhere. This is used by Tarantino as he wants to capture the audiences attention.

Inglorious Bastards

■ This is another example where the crash zoom is used as in the theatre scene it zooms in on the gunman, this is used as it breaks the calmness of the scene and it creates discomfort for the audience.

■ The theme of this film once again uses the over the top violence whether it is the theatre scene or the scene where the ‘Bear Jew’ beats a Nazi to death with a baseball bat.
