Coming This August!!
On Saturday August 25th, The Plymouth Choir from First
Plymouth Church in Lincoln, NE will be coming to
Memorial United Methodist Church for a day of musical
workshops. On Sunday, August 26th, the choir will be
performing arrangements at the 10:30am worship service.
A community concert will follow that afternoon at 2pm.
Keep a watch in your bulletins for more information on
this exciting event!
The Plymouth Choir participates in many community concerts
in partnership with the Abendmusik concert series. In 2016, the
Plymouth Choir was the only church choir selected to perform
at the North Central Convention of the American Choral
Directors Association. The ensemble's newest CD recording,
Hymns from First-Plymouth (volume 2), will be released this fall.
“We work together to develop a collective sense of community--
musically and spiritually-- that enables us to share God’s love with
one another and with our congregation.” The Plymouth Choir
AUGUST ISSUE 2018
Being a follower of Jesus is heavy.
When you step into following Jesus, you’re going to face
criticism and complaints, which can be overwhelming at
times. You’ll also deal with crisis, both your own and that of
others, which can create an enormous emotional weight to
carry on your shoulders. And you’ll have seasons of busyness
that tax your mind and stress your body. This all comes with the
territory.
So how do you get through it all?
• Keep your focus on Jesus, not other people.
• Lean into God’s grace every single day.
• Keep your prayer life strong.
• Value time with friends and family more than work.
• Stay healthy, rest, eat a balanced diet.
• Have an outlet or a hobby.
• Remember who you are in Christ.
And don’t forget 2 Corinthians 4:17, “For our present troubles
are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a
glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!” (NLT)
God’s purpose and calling for you is to influence your
generation in this life, and when God calls, He also provides,
protects, equips, and rewards! Let’s keep on leading people
to the heart of Jesus and the purposes of God for their lives. If
you’ve been on the verge of giving up, reach out! Reply to
this article. Talk to a me, another church leader, or a peer who
is also following Jesus. And always know that God is for you!

Little Blessings Preschool
Traci Wiemers, Teacher
Staci Meyers, Assistant Teacher
We have had a fun time in our new
program called, “Jump Start Kinder-
garten “. We reviewed patterns,
word families, writing sentences,
shapes, letters and number corre-
spondence. We did crafts such as a
snail with a pattern, crosses of thank-
fulness, nature wreaths, and we
made our own t-shirts. The kids loved
playing alphabet bingo, playing cro-
quet with blow up balls, and playing
at Kelly Park. We painted rocks and
hid them so if you find one let us
know. It will have Little Blessings Pre-
school on the bottom.
Our school year starts Sept 4th. We have a few openings if
you would like to join us we’d love to have you along for our
2018-2019 School year!
Thank you for your support of our children’s ministry!
Blessings,
Traci

Some ladies of the church have taken it upon
themselves to freshen up some of our classrooms
