Season of Creation - Every year from September 1 to Octo-

ber 4 the Christian family, including the Saint Bruno Com-munity unites for the worldwide celebration of prayer and

action to protect our common home. The celebration takes its lead from the Papal Encyclical by Pope Francis entitled “Care for Common Home.” This year the theme is “Jubilee for the

Earth.” The Creation Care Team asks the congregation to reflect on all the good that you have done to reuse, recycle

and repurpose so that we leave a rich heritage to the genera-tions which follow. We are all charged to care for the crea-

tion that God has so generously given to us. What more can we do to hand off this generous gift?

Worship Aid for The Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time, August 30, 2020

Opening Hymn: This Day God Gives Me

This day God sends me Strength as my guardian, Might to uphold me, Wisdom as guide. Your eyes are watchful, Your ears are list’ning, Your lips are speaking, Friend at my side.

Gloria

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the

world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most

High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Responsorial Hymn Response (Spoken): My soul is thirsting for you, o lord my God.

Gospel Acclamation (Sung): “Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia”

Homily

Creed (spoken)

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made consubstantial with the Father; through him all things

were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will

have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the

resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful Response (Spoken): Lord, Hear our prayer

Offertory (Silent Prayer)/Mass Parts (Spoken)

Communion Hymn: Blest Are they

Blest are they, the poor in spirit, theirs is the kingdom of God. Blest are they, full of sorrow, they shall be consoled. (Refrain) Rejoice and be glad! Blessed are you, holy are you! Rejoice and be glad! Yours is the kingdom of God! Blest are they, the lowly ones, they shall inherit the earth. Blest are they who hunger and thirst, they shall have their fill. (Refrain).

Closing Prayer

CLOSING SONG: Lord of all Hopefulness

Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy, Whose trust, ever childlike, no cares can destroy, Be there at our waking and give us, we pray, Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day.

The Diocese of Greensburg has allowed parishes to

recommence Holy Mass on June 1. Bishop Malesic noted, however, that returning to Mass and other liturgies will

include notable differences from past experiences as parishioners will be required to wear masks and remain six feet

apart. Additionally, the Sign of Peace will no longer include a handshake and holy water and baptismal fonts will be drained. “We might find that other practices need to be altered as well as we learn to live in this ‘new normal’ for the time being. Our clergy, my staff and I will do everything we can to help you understand these changes and remind you that we must always

proceed with caution, empathy, understanding and faith,” Bishop Malesic said. “For the foreseeable future, all people will remain dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays. I ask

that you make your own prudent and informed decision on whether to attend Sunday Mass or not, after taking your own

situation into account. You should especially use this dispensa-tion from the obligation to attend Mass at this time if you are el-

derly or have a medical condition that puts you at greater risk for serious complications from this disease,” Bishop Malesic said.

Additionally: Those who feel vulnerable because of their age or health are encouraged to stay home, while those who are sick

should not attend public Masses. Streaming Masses will continue. People will be seated at least in every other pew using social dis-tancing guidelines. All communicants will be encouraged to re-

ceive the Sacred Host in the hand. The Chalice of the Precious

Blood will not be offered to the congregation. Musicians

are being asked to limit music and choirs will not be per-

mitted. All hymnals and missalettes are required to be

removed and non re-usable worship aids will be used in

the interim. Confirmations and First Communions can

recommence in July and should be divided into smaller

groups if necessary. Receptions into the Church for RCIA

can recommence immediately at the Pastor’s discretion.

Special consideration will be given to families who would

like to delay sacramental celebrations until a later date.

Pastoral care will continue for the critical ill, all other

homebound visits have not resumed.

Collections will not be taken during Mass but there will be

baskets within the Church or you may mail your

contributions to the Parish Office or place your

contribution in the black mailbox at the main entrance of

the Parish Center. Bishop Malesic encourages

people to stay connected to their faith by watching

a streaming Mass or by visiting TheAccentOnline.org reg-

ularly to read the latest news, checking the diocese web-

site, or signing up for text alerts by texting the word

FAITH to the number (724-305-3057).
