August 2018 Zone C3 Newsletter 1 August 2018 Lisa Ikeda – Newsletter [email protected] Fellow C3 Lions, Please forward this to your club members and be sure to Save the Date for Thursday, September 20 th 6:30pm for our 1 st C3 Zone Meeting of the year. Our Sumner Lions will be hosting, please RSVP to me before September 17th. See page 4 for the invite. Thank you for everyone’s hospitality this past month, my club visits have been most enjoyable. I’ve visited nine of our ten clubs so far. As you all probably know by now I’m much better one on one and in small groups and I honestly hate public speaking. I am looking forward to Puyallup Valley as my last club to visit before visiting clubs with our DG. The last time I visited the PV club was with my mother Sue, last year before she passed away. My mom really enjoyed visiting them as Mexican food was always her favorite. DG Sikes has put out her visitation schedule for all 47 clubs in our District. Her schedule for C3 is located on page 2. I had a great time volunteering with a few of our clubs. I started the month volunteering with Bonney Lake, mowing the grass, pulling weeds and even helped paint at the Lions 4 Kids House (Clothing Bank) before leaving to visit the Health Screening Van in Federal Way. I was able to visit the Kent Lions, Cornucopia Days before volunteering to watch an intersection/handicap parking area. Helped serve dinner with the Puyallup Lion’s at their monthly Homeless Meal Program at the Puyallup National Guard Armory. I really enjoyed participating with “Team Lea” (Emerson Bishops wife) at the Relay for Life Cancer Walk with Sumner. The highlight of course was volunteering at Camp Leo, with my Fellow Fife Lions, Sumner, Mineral Lake, Orting and Pioneer/Longview Lions. Unfortunately, I did miss the Banner Passing, due to being ill. A big thank you to PZC Patti Lovell for bringing me dinner and the Zone C3 Banner afterwards. I ask that you please keep me informed of your club projects, events, fundraisers etc. I really want to support every club and I look forward to visiting each of your clubs again, volunteering with all of you and working with you this Lions year. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if needed. I’ll do my best to help however I can. On page 3 you’ll find a copy of the Lions Journey, many Lions have already completed these tasks and only need to fill out the form and submit it to receive their certificate. This form is a great way for new Lions to get involved in their Club, our Zone and in District activities, so please share it with them. Be sure to come out and support the Federal Way Lions Car Show, Sumner’s Sip and Stroll and Maple Valleys Octoberfest fundraiser. As a reminder that when our DG visits your club, please stand and applaud when she is introduced. Thank you all for being a Lions Club member and for all you do in your communities. Volunteering is selfless act of humanity that is much needed throughout the world and especially in today’s society.
