™ – Network Audio Interfaces
In today’s networked audio transport systems, there
are numerous requirements for various input and
output combinations. One location of your audio
network may need to capture 16microphone signals,
while another area may only require that 2, 4 or
possibly 8 channels of audio be converted back to the
analog world. There may be locations in your
networked audio system where AES/EBU inputs and
outputs are the ticket. Whatever your need, the
Hono™ CobraNet™ Series from AudioScience
provides the largest variety of I/O combinations in the
networked audio transport industry today, period.
These devices have been purposely designed to
compliment and fully integrate with all of today’s
CobraNet compatible DSP products. In addition, this is
the ideal solution for many situations where a project
requires numerous channels of digital audio routed
throughout a facility, but doesn’t require a large
dedicated DSP product.
The Hono™ CobraNet™ Series from AudioScience:
Networked audio transport technology in a powerful
and versatile package at a very attractive price.

Software DriversAudioScience offers a complete range of audio driver interfaces for all of our audio adapters. Operating systemsupport includes Windows 7, XP, Server 2008/2003, Linux and Macintosh. The sections below outline the specificinterfaces supported.
Macintosh® OS XThe AudioScience Macintosh® driver supports low latency multichannel recording and playback on a selectednumber of adapter models, and makes these features available to any OS X application that supports CoreAudio. The AudioScience Macintosh driver is compatible with OS X releases starting from Snow Leopard®
onwards, including the upcoming Lion® and later releases.
Windows WAVE, WDM and ComboThe AudioScience Microsoft Windows drivers enable multi-stream recording, reproduction and mixing of digitalaudio on a PC platform. The Microsoft multimedia wave and mixer APIs are supported under Windows 7, XP, andServer 2008/2003. The drivers utilize large adapter buffers to provide high performance, glitch-free audio underall operating conditions.
There are 3 versions of the Windows driver. The WAVE driver supports the waveOut, waveIn and mixer interfaces. It communicates directly with the hardware to support compressed audio playback/recording/mixing using theon-board DSP. The WDM driver supports the DirectSound interface for low-latency PCM only recording andplayback. The Combo driver contains both the WAVE and WDM interfaces; a 64bit version is available. All driverssupport AudioScience’s ASX and HPI APIs, TSX™ time scaling, and SSX™/SSX2™ extensions.
ASIOThe AudioScience Audio Stream In/Out (ASIO) 2.0 driver enables multi-track recording, reproduction, and mixingof PCM digital audio on a PC platform under the Windows 7, XP, and Server 2008/2003 OS. This driver follows theASIO philosophy of providing a simple low latency PCM audio pass-through from the hardware to the application. The ASIO driver interface is integrated into the AudioScience Windows WAVE, WDM or Combo drivers; it’s built inand installs automatically when one of our drivers is installed. As such, ASIO applications may share the audiohardware’s resources with other audio applications that use WAVE, DirectSound,® or the HPI interfaces.Copyright notice: ASIO is a trademark and software of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH
Linux ALSA/HPIThe AudioScience Linux drivers enable multi-stream recording, reproduction, and mixing of multi-stream digitalaudio on a PC running the Linux operating system. The AudioScience HPI and ASX audio APIs are supported undervarious kernel versions and distributions including kernel 2.6. Additionally ALSA supports AudioScience cards withthe “snd-asihpi” module. The driver is released under GPL, the libraries under a modified BSD style license.
Software ApplicationsAudioScience supplies several applications that enable the configuration of our sound cards. For a current list, visit www.AudioScience.com.
ASIControlThis application is used to used to configure your audio adapter when running the WDM driver. It runs underWindows 7, XP, and Server 2008/2003. It can be used to:
> Set routing and mixing of streams to physical inputs and outputs
> Set input and output analog levels
> Set tuner parameters (ASI8800/8900 series)
