Literacy: The class is continuing to learn routines and expectations during the literacy block. The class will learn what they should be thinking about when they read fiction and nonfiction text. They will also learn how to write and share personal thoughts made when they read any text. Math: Last week we started our first topic in math. Topic 1 is all about how to make and write numbers. So far, our class has learned how to write numbers using place value (ones, tens, hundreds, thousands), and place whole numbers on a number line. This week we will use our knowledge of the ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands place to compare and order whole numbers. We will take our first topic test on Friday. Writing: After lots of writing assessments last week, we will finally start our first writing unit this week. Our first unit covers how to plan, write, edit, revise, and publish personal narratives. This week we will work on how to determine what to write and how to edit our writing as we go. Celebration Corner Last Friday, the class celebrated earning 10 compliments with an extra recess. Ask your child how we earn class compliments. Every student has earned over 15 RRK’s for showing respect, responsibility, and kindness. Congrats to Mehki and Caleb for earning Blue last week.
