Theory Subjects
Theory Subjects are the main components of the Theory Training Syllabus, containing several Home Study and/or Classroom Sessions (or Private Sessions).
Each Theory Subject is evaluated by means of a Final Progress Check, as described under 1.4.2.1 of the EuroPilot Center OM.
Home Study Sessions
Each Home Study Session contains:
• An overview of EASA Learning Objectives• Corresponding references to the Home Study course material (Jeppesen handbook chapters
and pages)
All Home Study sessions are evaluated by means of Intermediate Progress Checks.
Classroom Sessions
Each Classroom Session contains an overview of the Learning Objectives covered for the respective Theory Subject and is organized in a normal classroom environment.
Private Sessions
When a student is unable to attend a scheduled Classroom Session, he can request for a Private Session. The BCAA will be informed accordingly about: date, time, name student, name Theoretical Knowledge Instructor and course subject. These sessions will take place at the EuroPilot Center premises.

Intermediate Progress Checks
During the course of the Home Study, the student is required to take Intermediate Progress Checks at an interval of at least every 15 hours of study. These checks are multiple choice questionnaires, consisting of at minimum 10 questions. The answers of these checks are automatically submitted to EuroPilot Center for assessment. Results are evaluated by the applicable Theoretical Knowledge Instructor.
At the end of the Theory Training, a Final Progress Check will be performed without reference to any course material and takes place under the supervision of EuroPilot Center. The pass mark of 75% assumes the achievement of satisfactory level of knowledge.
Theory Knowledge Exams
The Student who passes all final Progress Checks, will be authorized by the Head of Training to participate in the BCAA Theory Knowledge exam.
Rules concerning refresher training before a retake
Students failing the BCAA exams, have to take a refresher course and a Final Progress Check, before being authorized for a retake of the BCAA Theory Knowlegde exam. This refresher course will be organized under the supervision of the Chief Ground Instructor who will determine an individual Training Plan.
Test reports and records
All test reports will be kept in the Individual Student Training File.
Procedures for examination paper preparation, type of question and assessment, standard required for pass
The Final Progress Check will be performed on an Internal Examination Computer. This system will simulate a BCAA exam by producing a random set of multiple choice questions covering all the relevant subjects of the course.
Questions are produced from the EuroPilot Center Central Question Bank, maintained and kept up to date by EuroPilot Center. Questions are classified by Course, Subject and Paragraph for the purpose of quick reference. The database can only be accessed by the Head of Training. He is responsible for updating and reviewing the content.
The standard required pass mark is 75% for each individual subject.
Procedure for question analysis and review and for raising replacement papers
Since every Final Progress Check consists of a random set of questions, derived from the EuroPilot Center Central Question Bank, a replacement paper can be produced immediately via the Internal Examination Computer.

Theoretical Knowledge Training Monitoring
The student’s theoretical knowledge training progress shall be tracked at all times. A student shall attend all Classroom Sessions. If the student fails two consecutive progress tests, concering the same subject, the responsible Theoretical Knowledge Instructor will file a Theoretical Knowledge Training Comment, using the ‘Theoretical Knowledge Training Comment Form’. These written comments can be used as the basis for later action to enhance student’s theoretical knowledge or in the worst case, lead to a possible dismissal from the Theoretical Knowlegde Training. The Chief Ground Instructor will inform the Head of Training when a student is in the above described situation. In such event, the Head of Training will have a formal conversation with the student, explaining the situation and suggesting actions for improving the student’s theoretical knowledge performance, as well as a timeframe for re-evaluation. The Chief Ground Instructor will be responsible to follow up and execute the suggested actions and will report to the Head of Training.
Actions to improve Theoretical Knowledge performance
The following actions may be suggested to improve the Theoretical Knowledge performance (non-limitative):
• assisting the student with priorities of literature areas• recommending supplementary literature• recommending extra CBT sessions• extra theory sessions• recommending studying together with other students or studying in a different environment• profound discussions concerning attitude, resulting behaviour and performance
Procedures for suspending a student from training
In the event the above described actions do not lead to the enhancement of the student’s Flight performance and/or Theoretical Knowledge performance, a meeting will be adjourned with the Head of Training, Chief Flying Instructor, Chief Ground Instructor and the student. Unless certain factors that may have affected the student’s performance (e.g. family matters, illness etc) can be taken into account, the decision may be taken to discontinue the student’s training. The Head of Training will take the final decision and communicate this to the student in writing.
Discipline
Student discipline is further described in the EuroPilot Center operations Manual part A, Chapter 3.
Reporting and documentation
The Flight Training Comment Form shall be used by the Flight Instructor for the purpose of documenting student training issues.
The Theoretical Training Comment Form shall be used by the Theoretical Knowledge Instructor for the purpose of documenting student training issues.
