Austin Technology Council

Dear Friends:

2012 was another banner year for ATC’s expanding community. As the Central Texas tech story continues to gain resonance, our outreach and advocacy efforts were greatly strengthened by ATC member accomplishments. Rising interest in tech’s role in our community and the regional economy continues to improve the position of Central Texas tech, ATC, and our member brands.

We all overwhelmingly agree: our community is unique, our intentions united in making Austin a top-tier market for tech. If there is one area for improvement, it is to leverage a more cohesive approach to making Austin #1. ATC focused in 2012 on forging new partnerships to effectively expand the strategic reach of your leadership. Engine Advocacy and the City of Austin are just two examples but represent the important connectivity you have set as a priority.

Over the course of the year, ATC members earned unique access to Austin’s most admired icons: SXSW Interactive and Trade Show, Gibson guitar, Formula One, and, FunFunFun Fest. And we introduced an Austin first: a membership campaign that centered on Hopdoddy’s Classic with Cheese.

2013 brings several new initiatives that will drive Austin tech’s continued leadership: • An aggressive data collection strategy to reframe and articulate perspectives

on the profile and strength of our ecosystem.• The creation of task forces to leverage the influence and engagement of our

tech leaders and create performance expectations to increase access to technical talent and capital.

• Ample and inclusive discussion about the vision for tech in Central Texas.• Continued development of the ATC Community Foundation to lead regional

STEM priorities.

In preparation for 2013, I am pleased to share this ATC 2012 Highlights report. The following pages outline the accomplishments we’ve made toward growing the Central Texas tech sector and strengthening Austin’s tech – and your – brand.

We encourage you, as always, to provide direct feedback about the direction and focus of the organization, appreciate your support of our efforts on your behalf, and look forward to a busy but focused 2013!
