EXPERIENCE

Founded in 1897, ATB Morley design and manufacture high reliability motors for arduous applications and environments. Since 1995 we have supplied ICI licensed motors specifically for LDPE autoclave reactors. Our range includes:

• Mark 1• Mark 7(A)• Mark 10 • Mark 15(A)

In addition, we manufacture designs for other licensors:

• Rex 3, MU400 and MU225 Autoclave stirrer motors can be designed for any bespoke rating and voltage.

These motors have been installed around the world, including: North and South America, Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Far East and Australia.

INSULATION SYSTEM

ATB Morley have identified the insulation systems as one of the key areas to ensure the reliability of LDPE stirrer motors.

The stator slot liners are made from a material resistant to the attack of vinyl acetate; they are totally free of polyester.

The winding is impregnated using a VPI process with a particularly suitable class H epoxy resin.

Finally, the finished impregnated winding is over-coated with a specially selected armouring epoxy resin (also class H). This is chosen particularly for its excellent chemical resistance and its “glazed” finish to further resist erosion. The completed system is now proven to minimise downtime and therefore increase plant productivity.

ATB Morley is one of the few manufacturers of stirrer motors for inside chemical reactor vessels. Our experience in the design and build of in-process motors for the polymerisation of ethylene gas gives us a unique knowledge of this specialist area.

REPAIR, OVERHAUL & REPLACE

ATB Morley offers a comprehensive after sales service specific to LDPE autoclave reactor motors, encompassing strict quality management systems to ensure reliable compliance with agreed procedures and quality standards.

This includes:

Level 1 Strip, examine & dimensional check, bearing assessment, insulation check, clean all components, reassemble, abbreviated running test and anti-rust treatment in preparation for dispatch.

Level 2 Level 1 + Standard overhaul, including: replace mechanical parts such as bearings, terminal sockets and connectors. Mechanical overhaul

UPGRADE

Since ICI began the initial design of autoclave reactor motors in the 1930’s, many advances have been made in both materials and technology. These include:

• Improved lamination steel• Enhanced insulation material and systems• Introduction of inverter drives VV/VF• Thermal protection/detection devices

As a result of this, we are now able to offer - within the original motor envelope - increased motor outputs (kW) at optimum speed, providing increased productivity. MANUFACTURE & TESTING

All ATB Morley LDPE autoclave reactor motors are manufactured in house at our Leeds facility.

This includes onsite:

• Fabrication• Machining• Winding• Assembly• Test

Stirrer motors are custom-designed for your application, the stator is fitted directly into the user vessel and utilises an enhanced insulation system, allowing it to withstand high temperature gases which flow through the motor whilst lubricating the bearings.
