Term three is ending and I am prey sure that we are all happy about this. I commented to someone this morning that it has certainly been a long term – I think the longest I’ve experienced in my teaching career. If I am feeling this way, I know that all our parents must be feeling this way too. For many of you the learning from home journey has been for nine weeks and it is certainly hard to keep our children movated to connue with the work provided. Can I say take a break and recharge over the school holiday period (I know we cannot go anywhere but it is extremely important that we focus on taking me out to look aſter ourselves). SASS Appreciaon Week This week is SASS appreciaon week, a me when we acknowledge the commitment and hard work of our school administraon and support staff – this includes Mrs Mac, Jenni-Mae and Keith. Our SASS staff have certainly supported our students, staff and community during some very difficult mes over the last twelve months and we appreciate their efforts in supporng us during these challenging mes. We’d like to thank them for everything they do for the students, staff and community. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated group of SASS staff that go above and beyond to ensure that our school is a safe and happy place. Father’s Day We hope that all our dads had a great Father’s Day and were a lile bit spoilt. Hopefully you liked your handmade giſts and enjoyed challenging your children in a game. It was great to see some of the finished creaons. Zoom Teachers have connued to connect with students through zoom and we have enjoyed chang and communicang with our classes. The scheduled weekly zoom meengs for each class is outlined below. Term three is ending and I am pretty sure that we are all happy about this. I commented to someone this morning that it has certainly been a long term – I think the longest I’ve experienced in my teaching career. If I am feeling this way, I know that all our parents must be feeling this way too. For many of you the learning from home journey has been for nine weeks and it is certainly hard to keep our children motivated to continue with the work provided. Can I say take a break and recharge over the school holiday period (I know we cannot go anywhere but it is extremely important that we focus on taking time out to look after ourselves).

SASS Appreciation Week This week is SASS appreciation week, a time when we acknowledge the commitment and hard work of our school administration and support staff – this includes Mrs Mac, Jenni-Mae and Keith. Zoom – continued .. Next week, Mrs Gibb will be hosting a library zoom for K/1/2 and 3/4/5/6. The links have been sent to parents and the students in 3/4/5/6. The K/1/2 zoom is scheduled for 9:00am and the 3/4/5/6 library zoom is scheduled for 1:30pm. Mrs Gibb has some exciting activities planned and is looking forward to working with the students on Monday. If your child has any questions in regard to the work in the learning from home pack, please ensure that they have it ready to ask their teacher during the zoom session. Alternatively, if you need to contact your child’s teacher, please send them an email or contact the office to arrange to speak with your child’s teacher or one of the other teacher’s. Class teachers are available daily to discuss the learning needs of children. Remember, you are not expected to become a teacher. Your child’s teacher is available to support you. To ensure that the platform meets the safety and security needs of the Department of Education (DoE) you will only be able to connect to each zoom meeting using the child’s DoE email address. Prior to the first whole school zoom, I emailed each family individually with child’s DoE email account and the password for students in K/1. If you are unsure, please contact the office and we will provide you with these details.

Learning from Home Booklets Please ensure that all learning from home packs are returned to school. Class teachers will be marking the set work. The expectation of the Department of Education (DoE), is that all students will be completing the work in their learning packs. Thus, for your child to have their school attendance marked ‘F – flexible’ learning at home the school needs to be provided with evidence that the learning is taking place. The evidence required is the return of completed paper learning packs. Please ensure that you are returning your child’s learning packs to school for marking. The learning from home page has a wide range of curriculum-based activities to further supplement your child’s learning, if required. We understand the pressures of parents both supervising learning from home as well as completing their own work.

There are some helpful wellbeing tools available to help look after yourself and those around you. Parents are the best judge of what is appropriate for your child to be doing at home. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or your child’s teacher if you need further guidance or something is not working for you. The Department of Education also provides practical advice to parents and carers on how to best create and support a productive learning environment in the home. For more information, please go to: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/learning-from-home/learning-at-home

Attendance During learning from home all schools are still required to record the attendance of our students. The current lockdown will affect attendance only if your child is not working from home. We are doing this through monitoring the completion of work returned to school and check-ins with our students and families.

Vaccinations for school staff To ensure a COVID-safe return to school, all NSW public school and preschool staff on-site to support the staged return of students will be required to be fully vaccinated. Any contractors, volunteers or people on site who require a Working with Children Check will also be required to have 2 doses of vaccination before returning to our school. All NSW school and preschool staff will be required to be fully vaccinated by 8 November. The department’s COVID-19 webpage is constantly being updated, and outlines the restrictions in our schools as well as other useful information and resources to keep you up to date and supported.

TERM 3 - WEEK 9 FRIDAY 10th September 2021

Covid-19 Update and Return to face-to-face learning Currently the clear message from NSW Health is that families should be keeping children at home unless it is absolutely necessary for them to attend school. Looking ahead, on Friday 27 August 2021 the Premier announced the return to school roadmap for students in NSW. Students will return to face-to-face learning either through a ‘staged return’ or ‘full return’, depending on NSW Health conditions in our area. Please find below information regarding a staggered return to school from Monday, 25 October (Term 4, Week 4). Please note, when reading this information, Wisemans Ferry Public School is currently operating under a Level 4 COVID-safe setting.

• From Monday 25 October, select cohorts under stay-at-home rules – starting with students in Kindergarten and Years 1 and 12 – will return to face-to-face learning under Level 3 plus COVIDsafe settings, as long as community transmission and vaccination rate requirements have been met.

• From Monday 1 November, students in Years 2, 6 and 11 will return to school sites under Level 3 plus COVID-safe settings, as long as community transmission and vaccination rate requirements have been met.

• From Monday 8 November, students in Years 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 will return to school sites under Level 3 plus COVID-safe settings, as long as community transmission and vaccination rate requirements have been met.

• Information outlining return to school procedures for students from Wisemans Ferry Public School will be sent to parents/carers prior to Monday, 25 October.

In the meantime, the Department of Education continues to strongly urge all parents/carers to keep their children at home to participate in home learning. Schools will remain open for parents/ carers who are essential workers and are required to leave their home to attend their place of work. The return to school roadmap is subject to change depending on new information expected through the Public Health Order and additional advice from NSW Health. You can stay up to date with the most recent advice on our Advice for families page.
