PART H - SHOTLISTName Description Purpose Example

1. Long shot Take up almost the full frame height (person). Shows the entire body

To show both whole full body of presenter and also emerge plenty of background details.

2. Establishing shot Establishes the scene, shows locations and surroundings.

Usually to establish location, setting, to show the audience where the action is taking place

3. Close up shot Certain feature or certain subject takes up the most frame.

Used to emphasise a person’s emotional state, showing the realism of a person’s facial expression.

4. Mid shot Shows some part of the subject, but also the background .

Appropriate when the presenter intends to deliver information. Common shot used for TV interviews and programs.

5. Two shot The subject don’t have to be next to each other. The basic idea of having a comfortable shot of two people.

Often used in interviews or when two presenter are hosting a show. Two shot are good to establish the relationship between two subjects.
