GLAST DC2: 55 days worth of realistic simulated data
DC2 analysis group @ ASDC:
• Paolo Giommi (ASDC director)
• Elisabetta Cavazzuti, Sara Cutini, Dario Gasparrini, Carlotta Pittori
To-Do: from the Blazars and other AGN Confluence page:
Blazar catalog, sample definition
Once the list of GLAST sources is available, three steps are foreseen:
a) A source subset will readily be associated with known sources (e.g. blazars from existing catalogs);
b) Some new GLAST sources will be identified via cross-correlation with radio, X-ray... catalogs. The candidate optical counterparts will be observed. The spectroscopy will confirm their identity as a blazar, and lead to the redshift and luminosity determination.
c) Some information about the blazar contents of the remaining subset can be obtained by statistical studies.
• GLAST DC2 source catalog integrated in the ASDC database system
• Cross correlations of all DC2 sources with the ASDC blazars catalogue and with 3EG sources
• Cross correlations with other local and web-accessed radio, infrared, optical and X-ray data, including Pulsars, SNR, X-ray Binaries and Galaxy Clusters catalogues
• DC2 source identification
• Blazar spectral studies
• Interactive DC2 source catalog web page created @ ASDC:

(see our suggestion to David)
Some ASDC cross correlation details:
• cross all with egret cat with rad=60’
• cross all with blazar cats in the ASDC database with rad=15’
• cross with WMAP cat with rad=60’ only for not yet identified sources
• 1st cross with radio NVSS rad =5’ , flux >100 mJy
• cross with pulsar cat with rad=15’
• cross with snr ASCA cat rad=30’, f >30mJy
• 2nd cross with radio NVSS and SUMS rad =30’ , flux >30 mJy (stronger source selected in case of multiple choice)
• others (xrb cat, clusters cat, ...)
In the SEDs we interactively included:
• optical data from sloan and gsc2 with rad=0,25’
• infrared data from 2mass with rad=0,25’

“Preliminary list of monitored sources”:
Sub-sample of 18 selected sources mentioned in the Year 1 data release plan
Blazar Group F-to-F Meeting, March 04
For this sub-sample of 18 selected sources, we quickly provided access to a set of Standard Products: Image, Count Map, XSPEC generated spectrum and unfolded spectrum, as well as LC (by B. Lott) and Likelihood spectral fits (by L. Reyes). We also provided the source SED, with and without DC2 simulated data.
Interactive page which allows to:
• perform your own web searches around DC2 sources
• get interactive MW data access

Same work done for the 18-blazars sample has been extended to the entire subsample of FSRQ (~ 60 sources) and BLLacs (~ 20 sources) with an EGRET counterpart:

• Count Map• Fitted spectra with bkgr subtraction (galactic and extragalactic)• SED with and without DC2 Data

Cross-correlation results:• 39 BL Lacs (34 in DC2 catalog v1) including BL Lac itself!• 90 FSRQs (84 in DC2 catalog v1)• 56 Pulsars/SNR (32 in DC2 catalog v1) • 457 unidentified (220 in DC2 catalog v1)
Some sources in the Galactic plane may be spurious?

• Residual (particle) background subtraction at low (<100 MeV) and high (>10 GeV) energies (empirical cube by Riccardo Rando?)
• Estimate of gamma-ray flux from microwave (94Ghz) data for FSRQ
• XRB and low latitude gamma-ray sources studies (in collab. with P. Santolamazza, F. Verrecchia). Two candidate HMXRBs under study among DC2 sources:
– MRF0057 possibly LS 5039 at d=60’, but most probably cross correlated with a radio pulsar at d=5’ (ASDC cat preliminary choice)
– MRF0044 probably LSI +61303 at d=15’. But there is also a strong (~ 923 mJy) unidentified NVSS radio source at d=16’ (ASDC cat preliminary choice)
• Galaxy Clusters search in Abell cat (in collab. with S. Colafrancesco)
• GRBs studies (in collab. with A. Antonelli)
Work in progress at ASDC:
Thanks!
CONCLUSION: DC2 ASDC catalog
Complete yes, but how accurate? We are eager to know....
In our preliminary analysis we made multi-wavelength cross correlations based almost on simple spatial criteria. We plan to improve source identifications with algorithms based on Bayesian statistical methods.
... in the meantime we are waiting for
