To adopt design as a profession, it must become a way of life—a life consumed by

creativity and inspiration. The main challenge of good design is getting as close

to perfection as possible. To stop at ordinary is not enough. The perfect design

creates a functional space that refl ects and enhances the lifestyle of the client. Being

versatile and paying close attention to detail achieves that goal. With an open mind,

infi nite possibilities can be reached.

A Texas Hill Country interpretation of

Santa Barbara style, this house plan was developed to nestle

under the many existing live oak trees.

This new house with old style was designed

to appear as if it had expanded over time

and has many stories to tell if walls could

talk.

Done in collaboration with Atlantis Architects

This cabana was created for crowds of all ages--it’s designed to be a guest room when the in-laws are in town, a game room for the kids, and an adult entertaining space. This house is situated on a draw and has a wood shop below for dad’s projects. It was designed to accommodate the geometry of the existing pool. The materials selected are sleek such as the cast-in-place concrete hearth that curves around to provide extra seating and standing seam metal siding. Smooth local limestone fl oors and a Brazilian cherry ceiling provide warmth to this cozy hide-a-way. Done in collaboration with Atlantis Architects

The “easy to work with” Cantera stone on this house gave us the opportunity to work out many details such as the colonnade, window surrounds, fi replace mantles, and column bases. Warm woods were also used in the detailing with the brackets, beams, and rafter tails. Done in collaboration with Atlantis Architects

Greene is a cutting edge advertising fi rm--it made sense to have cutting edge products for inspiration. Renewable products were used, as well as Herman Miller’s Resolve system, to create an organic sense of space. The outdoor environment was brought indoors for a relaxing and inspirational work place for the employees of this creative fi rm.

This shelter was designed to

become a haven for victims of

domestic violence. The multi-purpose

site incorporated elements from the Texas Hill Country.

The purpose was for it to blend into

its surroundings and not be

easily noticeable to passersby.

The space was designed to be

calming and allows natural light to fl ow throughout in order

to create healing for the users.

Done in collaboration with Emilee Walker and

Shavawn Helmle.
