The winner will be selected by a jury composed of Anna Colin, associate curator of Lafayette Anticipations in Paris and co-director of the Open School East in Margate, Lorenzo Giusti, director of GAMEC Bergamo, and Judith Waldmann, curator and head of Monitoring at Kasseler Kunstverein in Kassel. The winning work will be acquired by Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT and is earmarked for the OGR – Officine Grandi Riparazioni, the centre of visual and performing arts that brings together research on art, performance and music, combining the ideas and values of creativity with the tools and languages of the most advanced digital technologies. Sound, a new development for 2018, is the first section of Artissima set up outside of the institutional spaces of the fair. It presents fifteen individual projects selected by the two international curators Yann Chateigné Tytelman, curator and art critic based in Berlin and associate professor of art history and theory at HEAD Geneva, and Nicola Ricciardi, artistic director of OGR – Officine Grandi Riparazioni of Torino. Sound has been created in response to the recent interest in this aspect of art on the part of creative talents of various generations, challenging the conventional logic of the visual arts. Sound is used to transform space and its perception, to reactivate memories, to free the imagination, and today it is an important part of many lines of research in various fields, precisely due to its capacity to suggest and reveal an intangible, constantly mutable reality.
