These units can be used in conjunction with a Standard Door Closer to hold a door open to aid Ease of Access throughout a building but since they are also linked directly to the Fire Detection system, as soon as the fire alarm sounds, all doors fitted with Electromagnetic devices are closed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke.

MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR EASE OF ACCESSThe following table shows the efficiency of the 324 Cam along with its ability to meet the requirements detailed in BS 8300 and Approved Document M (ADM) at varying door widths.

Minimum achievable door width 781mm

These results for minimum door widths were obtained via third party testing and meet the requirements of BS 8300 and ADM, however external factors such as hinges, seals, air pressure and variable fitting standards and positions may increase opening forces. Where these factors are out of the control of the Specifier, BS 8300 recommends: either the inclusion of an Electromagnetic Door Holder in conjunction with a Standard Door Closer; or alternatively to specify an Electromagnetic Hold Open or Swing Free Door Closer.

MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR EASE OF ACCESSThe Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) and BS 8300 recommends the inclusion of Electromagnetic solutions to ensure standards for Ease of Access, Building Regulations, the Equality Act and Advanced Document M (ADM) are met.Compared with traditional Mechanical Door Closers, Electromagnetic Door Closers have extremely low opening forces, and therefore are not materially affected by external factors such as hinges, seals, latches, air pressure and variable fitting standards & positions.As can be seen from the table below our Electromagnetic Door Closers operate at a wide range of CE Powers and Door Widths, all meeting the requirements for ADM:
