    Present Condition

Most of the Indologists, historians, and archeologists in

modern universities agree that there was no civilization inthe Ganges basin of India 5000 yearsago.

The civilization in which those pastimes are said to have

occurred simply did not exist (as in Bhagavatam,Mahabharat, Ramayan). They say that the stories of thatcivilization are mythological, and they were graduallyinvented over a period ofcenturies.

Bentley and pioneer Indologists such as Sir William Jonesand Max Muller worked hard to show that the shastras arenothing but a mixture of fables and fiction, and they were quitesuccessful. They started a school of thought that is solidly

established in modern universities, both in Western countriesand in India itself.

    How it got started?

    CAREFUL BEGINNING AFTER 1757 Victory

    One tea-dealer Mr.Twinning put it -

"As long as we continue to govern India in the mild, tolerant spirit ofChristianity, we may govern it with ease; but if ever the fatal day shouldarrive, when religious innovation shall set her foot in that country, indignation will spread from one end of the Hindustan to the other, andthe arms of fifty millions of people will drive us from that portion of theglobe, with as much ease as the sand of the desert is scattered by thewind".

Another point of view in support of that policy was by Montgomery.

"Christianity had nothing to teach Hinduism, and no missionary evermade a really good Christian convert in India. He was more anxious tosave the 30,000 of his country-men in India than to save the souls of allthe Hindus by making them Christians at so dreadful a price".

    How it got started?GRADUAL ATTACK

However, one year before this law was put into effect, the author CharlesGrant wrote, "The Company manifested a laudable zeal for extending, asfar as its means went, the knowledge of the Gospel to the pagan tribesamong whom its factories were placed.

Upon his arrival in 1810, the Governor-general Marquis of Hastings wrote:

"the Hindoo appears a being merely limited to mere animal functions, and even in them indifferent...with no higher intellect than a dog..."

Seeing India as an unlimited field for missionary activity, and insisting that itwas part of a Christian government's duty to promote this, Christianmissionaries came to India without any government approval.

William Carey (1761-1834) was the pioneer of the modern missionary enterprise inIndia, and of western (missionary) scholarship in oriental studies. Carey was an Englishoriental scholar and the founder of the Baptist Missionary Society. From 1801 onward,as Professor of Oriental Languages, he composed numerous philosophical works, consisting of 'grammars and dictionaries in the Marathi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Telugu,Bengali and Bhatanta dialects. From the Serampor press, there issued in his life time,

over 200,000 Bibles and portions in nearly 40 different languages and dialects, Careyhimself undertaking most of the literary work.

    How it got started?GRADUAL ATTACK

Another preacher, William Archer, wrote in his book, India and the Future"The plain truth concerning the mass of the [Indian] population andthe poorer classes alone is that they are not civilized people."

Reverend A.H. Bowman wrote that Hinduism was a

"great philosophy which lives on unchanged whilst other systems are

dead, which as yet unsupplanted has its stronghold in Vedanta, the lastand the most subtle and powerful foe of Christianity."

In 1790, Dr.Claudius Bucchanan, a missionary attached to the East IndiaCompany, arrived in Bengal. Not long after his arrival, the good doctorstated-

"Neither truth, nor honesty, honor, gratitude, nor charity, is to be found inthe breast of a Hindoo."

George Gogerly went on to write

"The whole history of this famous god (Krsna) is one of lust, robbery, deceitand murderthe history of the whole hierarchy of Hindooism is one of

shameful iniquity, too vile to be described."

How it got started?Interest was not Education but Conversion

The prominent missionary, Alexander Duff (1806-1878) foundedthe Scottish Churches College, in Calcutta, which he envisioned asa "headquarters for a great campaign against Hinduism."Duffsought to convert the Indians by enrolling them in English-runschools and colleges, and placed emphasis on learningChristianity through the English language. Duff wrote -

" While we rejoice that true literature and science are to besubstituted in place of what is demonstrably false, we cannot butlament that no provision has been made for substituting the onlytrue religion-Christianity - in place of the false religion which ourliterature and science will inevitably demolish Of all the systemsof false religion ever fabricated by the perverse ingenuity of fallenman, Hinduism is surely the moststupendous.

    How it got started?Dangerous Motives

Richard Temple, a high officer, said in an 1883 speech to a Londonmissionary society:

" India presents the greatest of all fields of missionary exertion... India is acountry which of all others we are bound to enlighten with external truth...Butwhat is most important to you friends of missions, is this - that there is a largepopulation of aborigines, a people who are outside caste....If they are attached, asthey rapidly may be, to Christianity, they will form a nucleus round which Britishpower and influence may gather.

He addressed a mission in New York in bolder terms:

"Thus India is like a mighty bastion which is being battered by heavy artillery. Wehave given blow after blow, and thud after thud, and the effect is not at first veryremarkable; but at last with a crash the mighty structure will come toppling down, and it is our hope that someday the heathen religions of India will in like manner

    succumb."

How it got started?Dangerous Motives- Thomas Babbington Macaulay

As to the value of teaching Sanskrit and Indias classical literatures, as well as regional languages, in

schools to be established by the British for the education of the Indian people, A few members of theCouncil were mildly in favor of it, but the elegantly expressed, fully ethnocentric and Philistine view ofMacaulay prevailed. In his Education Minute, Macaulay wrote that he couldnt find one Orientalist.

"who could deny that a single shelf of good European library is worth the whole native literature of India

and ArabiaAre we to teach false history, false astronomy, false medicine because we find them in

company with false religion? The intrinsic superiority of the Western literature is, indeed, fully admitted by

those members of the Committee who support the Oriental plan of educationThe superiority of theEuropeans becomes absolutely immeasurable."

He went on to make the outrageous assertion that

"all the historical information which has been collected from all the books written in the Sanscrit

language is less valuable than what may be found in the most paltry abridgements used in preparatoryschools in England."

He then made the following creatively expressed, though uneducated assertion as his central statement ofbelief

"The question now before us is simply whether, when it is in our power to teach the (English) language,we shall teach language in whichthere are no books on any subject which deserve to be compared to

our ownwhether, when we can patronize sound philosophy and true history, we shall countenance at

the public expense medical doctrines which would disgrace an English farrier, astronomy which wouldmove laughter in girls at an English boarding school, history abounding in kings thirty feet high andreigns thirty-thousand years long, and geography made up of seas of treacle and rivers of butter I would

at once stop the printing of Arabic and Sanscrit books, I would abolish the Madrassa and the Sanscrit (sic)

    colle e at Calcutta."

How it got started?Dangerous Motives- Thomas Babbington Macaulay

In a letter to his father in 1836, Macaulay exclaimed

"...It is my belief that if our plans of education are followed up, there will not be

a single idolator among the respectable classes in Bengal thirty years hence. And thiswill be effected without any efforts to proselytize, without the smallest interference withreligious liberty, by natural operation of knowledge and reflection. I heartily rejoice in the

    project.

In other words, Lord Macaulay believed that by knowledge and reflection, theHindus would turn their backs upon the religion of their forefathers and take upChristianity. In order to do this, he planned to use the strength of the educatedIndians against them by using their scholarship to uproot their own traditions, or

in his own words - " Indian in blood and color, but English in taste, in opinion, inmorals, in intellect." He firmly believed that, "No Hindu who has received anEnglish education ever remains sincerely attached to his religion."

    sincerely attached to his religion."

To further this end Macaulay wanted a competent scholar who could interpret the Vedicscriptures in such a manner that the newly educated Indian youth would see howbarbaric their native superstitions actually were. Macaulay finally found such a scholar inFredrich Max Mueller.

How it got started?Dangerous Motives-Fredrich Max Mueller (1823-1900)Fredrich Max Mueller (1823-1900) was born in Dessau and educated in Leipzig, where

he learned Sanskrit and translated theHitopadesa of Pandita Visnu Sarmabeforecoming to England in 1846. Since he was penniless, he was cared for by Baron vonBunsen, the Prussian ambassador to England who basked in the childishly pleasantthought of converting the whole world to Christianity. It was in London that Max Muellermet Macaulay who was still on the look out for his right man

First commissioned by the East India Company to translatethe Rg Veda into English. The company agreed to pay the young Mueller 4 Shillings for each page that was readyto print. He later moved to Oxford where he translated a number of books on Easternreligion. His magnum opus was his seriesThe Sacred Books of the East, a fiftyvolume workwhich he began editing in 1875. It goes without saying that by the end ofhis career, Mueller had amassed a comfortable sum of money.

It is surprise that the man who has Bhagvans named after him all over India and istreated with so much veneration there, probably did the most damage to uproot Vedicculture.

At the time of his death he was venerated by none other than Lokamanya Tilak asVeda-maharishi Moksha-mula Bhatta of Go-tirtha(Oxford).

How it got started?Dangerous Motives-Fredrich Max Mueller (1823-1900)

Although Mueller is on record as extoling Indias ancient wisdom, his letters

(printed in two volumes) tell an entirely different story

"History seems to teach that the whole human race required a gradual educationbefore, in the fullness of time, it could be admitted to the truths of Christianity. All thefallacies of human reason had to be exhausted, before the light of a high truth couldmeet with ready acceptance. The ancient religions of the world were but the milk ofnature, which was in due time to be succeeded by the bread of life.... 'The religion ofBuddha has spread far beyond the limits of the Aryan world, and to our limited vision,it may seem to have retarded the advent of Christianity among a large portion of thehuman race. But in the sight of Him with whom a thousand years are but as one day, that religion, like the ancient religions of the world, may have but served to prepare theway of Christ, by helping through its very errors to strengthen and to deepen the

ineradicable yearning of the human heart after the truth of God."

"Large number of Vedic hymns are childish in the extreme; tedious, low, commonplace.

"Nay, they (the Vedas) contain, by the side of simple, natural, childish thoughts, many

ideas which to us sound modern, or secondary and tertiary."

How it got started?Dangerous Motives-Fredrich Max Mueller (1823-1900)

"...this edition of mine and the translation of the Vedas, will hereafter tell to a great extent

on the fate of India and on the growth of millions of souls in that country. It (the Rg Veda)is the root of their religion and to show them what the root is, I am sure, the only way ofuprooting all that has sprung from it during the last three thousand years" 9

"Hinduism was dying or dead because it belonged to a stratum of thought which waslong buried beneath the foot of modern man. He continued: " The worship of Shiva,Vishnu, and other popular deities was of the same and in many cases of a moredegraded and savage character than the worship of Jupiter, Apollo or Minerva. 'Areligion', he said ' may linger on for a long time, it may be accepted my large masses ofthe people, because it is there, and there is nothing better. But when a religion hasceased to produce defenders of the faith, prophets, champions, martyrs, it has ceased tolive, in the true sense of the word; and in that sense the old orthodox Brahmanism has

ceased to live for more than a thousand years." (Speech at the Christians Missions inWestminster Abbey in 1873)10

"I would like to live for ten years quite quietly and learn the language, try to make friends, and then see if I was fit to take part in this work, by means of which the old mischief ofIndian priestcraft could be overthrown and the way opened for the entrance of simpleChristian teachingIndia is much riper for Christianity than Rome or Greece were at the

    time of Saint Paul."

    How it got started?

Motives of the Indologists (Summary)Some of the one-sided prejudices that they have inherited can be summed up as follows:(A) Due to religious prejudice, early indologists were reluctant to give the Vedasa higherantiquity than the earliest portion of the Old Testament and place them beyond 2500 B.C. Infact, the dating that they did give to the Vedaswas totally speculative and unfounded.

    (B) Due to a poor fund of knowledge, early indologists relegated all the Vedic texts and thepersonalities found in them to the realm of mythology. Furthermore, these texts were

written by some very late anonymous persons who attributed their works to 'mythical'sages.

    (C) Early indologists were responsible for creating the outlandish and groundless theory ofthe aryan invasion, according to which the very existence of the Solar and Lunar Dynastiesof kings are totally denied. Such a assumption was solely based upon racial, religious andpolitical motivations. Ironically, this theory is taught in every school throughout theSubcontinent to this day!

    (D) Early indologists were responsible for the corrupt translations of Vedic works, andmisrepresentation of the Vedic culture.

    (E) Early indologists were responsible for rejecting the idea that Sanskrit was the mother ofat least the Indo-European languages; as at first very ably propounded by Franz Bopp, andoften mentioned by ancient Indian authors.

    REFUTATIONS

Indologists often say that ancient Indians were content with fables and had no

    interest in recording history:

But yet there are some traditional Vedic scholars who strongly disagree withthis. For example, Pandit Kota Vankatachela has written a book giving anunbroken sequence of kings of Magadha from the time of the Mahabharata up

to the invasion of India by Muhammad Ghori in 1193 A.D./3/ He gives datesfor the reigns of these kings based on the Puranas and related Sanskrit texts.Table lists these kings and the dates of their reigns from Jarasandha to thedynasty of Chandragupta Maurya.

    REFUTATIONS

T K V Rajan, archaeologist turned television producer, presented an exhibition

titled "In Search of Krishna", a well-documented collection of material aboutthe excavations conducted at the various sites connected with the life ofKrishna and the events of the Mahabharata.

Over 35 sites of the Mahabharata have been identified in the North, all ofwhich have yielded material culture - painted grey ware (PGW) pottery

painted over with designs in black pigment, and antiquities in uniform andidentical levels. This pottery is made of a superior quality of paste formed ofwell levigated clay and fine, well-burnt fabric achieved by distributing heat inthe kiln evenly.

After their exile, the Pandavas asked for three villages: Paniprastha,

Sonaprastha and Indiraprastha, generally identified with modern Panipat,Sonepat and Puranaqila in New Delhi. These sites have also yielded the samepottery and antiquities. Building structures with drainage systems and PGWwere excavated at Purana Qila.

    REFUTATIONS

Following remarks by Dr. H. Daniel Smith, a professor of religion at

Syracuse University. He comments on the Ramayana:

A myth is not necessarily fictional, it's just a story that doesn't have to be taken literallyand that tells us something about human nature. The reasons that Smith gives forcalling the Ramayana a myth are significant. First of all, there is the problem of saying

that Lord Ramacandra lived in Ayodhya in the Treta yuga. This is ruled out by theDarwinian theory of evolution, which says that in that time period, over 864,000 yearsago, there were no human beings of the modern type.

Michael Cremo (Drutakarma dasa) and Dr. Richard Thompson (Sadaputa

dasa) have just completed a 900 page book, Forbidden Archeology, whichgives extensive evidence showing that human beings of the modern type havebeen living on the earth for many millions of years.

  • 8/2/2019 Are Vedas Mythology

    25/111

    REFUTATIONS

Another problem raised by Smith is that if we take the Ramayana literally, then we are

obliged to accept the existence of beings such as Rakshasas, which are endowed withremarkable mystical powers. Smith refers to the world of the Ramayana as a "WaltDisney world" of fantasy - a world that scientifically educated people can hardly takeseriously. This problem applies to all the Vedic literatures. All of the shastras are basedon a view of reality that assumes the existence of mystic powers, beings with subtlebodies, transmigration of souls, and avataras of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

There is a great deal of evidence in the domain of the paranormal thatsupports the reality of subtly embodied beings and mystic powers. it is a factthat many eminent scientists have seriously

studied paranormal phenomena on an individual basis. This still goes ontoday, and such scientists have formed organizations such as the InternationalAssociation for New Science and the International Society for the Study ofSubtle Energy and Energy Medicine.

The recently discovered bridge currently named as Adam's Bridge made ofchain of shoals, c.18 mi (30 km) long, in the Palk Strait between India and Sri

Lanka, reveals a mystery behind it. The bridge's unique curvature andcomposition by age reveals that it is man made. The legends as well as

Archeological studies reveal that the first signs of human inhabitants in SriLanka date back to the a primitive age, about 17,50,000 years ago and the

bridge's age is also almost equivalent. This information is a crucial aspect foran insight into the mysterious legend called Ramayana, which was supposed

to have taken place in tretha yuga (more than 17,00,000 years ago). In this epic, there is a mentioning about a bridge, which was built between Rameshwaram(India) and Srilankan coast under the supervision of a dynamic and invincible

figure called Rama who is supposed to be the incarnation of the supreme. Thisinformation may not be of much importance ! ! to the archeologist s who areinterested in exploring the origins of man, but it is sure to open the spiritual

gates of the people of the world to have come to know an ancient history linked

    to the Indian mythology.

    Findings of Saraswati River Bed

Evidence from many sources, including that of archaeologicalremains associated with old river courses, indicates that a major

river, stemming mainly from the same sources as the present Sutlej,

flowed through Northern Rajasthan, Bahawalpur and Sind--

to the southeast of the present course of the Sutlej and the Indus --

in the third to second millennium BC. This river, known as the

Sarawati in its upper course, at different times either joined the

lower course of the Indus in Sind, or found its way independently

into the Arabian Sea via Rann of Kutch.'' (Allchin, B., Goudie, A.,

and Hegde, K., 1978, The prehistory and palaeogeography of the

Great Indian Desert, London, Academic Press, p. 198).

Vedic and epic tradition on the river is concordant with thearchaeological/geographical (and now landsat satellite) attestations.

    Archaeological evidences

Most of the archaeological sites of the-then civilisation are locatedon the Saraswati river basin. There are four Harappan and pre-

Harappan sites in Punjab, in addition to the sites in Rajasthan and

U.P. These sites are located at Rupar (present Ropar), NihangKhan, Bara and Sirsa valley. Harappan culture flourished in thewestern part of Punjab around 2500 B.C. It is believed that the

Harappans entered through the Indus Valley into Kalibanganvalley on the left bank of Ghaggar (erstwhile Saraswati) and

spread to Punjab along the Saraswati River. Carbon dating of thematerial at Kalibangan suggests that Harappan culture flourishedaround 2500 B.C. in India and existed for 1000 years. So the

present day geomorphologic set up did not exist till 1500 B.C. andthe Indus, the Sutlej and the Beas followed independent courses tothe sea.

Evidences from Remote Sensing and GIS

A remote sensing study of the Indian desert reveals numeroussignatures of palaeochannels in the form of curvilinear andmeandering courses, which is identified by the tonal variations. The

Saraswati River could be traced through these palaeochannels as amigratory river. Its initial course flowed close to the Aravalli ranges

and the successive six stages took west and northwesterly shifts tillit coincides with the dry bed of the GhaggarRiver.

Yash Pal et al. found that the course of the river Saraswati in the states of Punjab,Haryana and Rajasthan is clearly highlighted in the LANDSAT imagery by the vegetation

cover thriving on the rich residual loamy soil along its earlier course. Digitalenhancement studies of IRS-1C data (1995), combined with RADAR imagery fromEuropean Remote Sensing satellites ERS 1/2, identified subsurface features andrecognised the palaeochannels beneath the sands of the Thar Desert. A study of NRSA,based on satellite derived data, has revealed no palaeochannel link between the Indusand the Saraswati, confirming that the two were independent rivers; also, the three

palaeochannels, south of Ambala, seen to swerve westwards to join the ancient bed ofthe Ghaggar, are inferred to be the tributaries of Saraswati/Ghaggar, and one amongthem, probably Drishadvati. Digital enhancement techniques using high resolution LISS-III data of IRS-1C satellite, together with pyramidal processing, identified twopalaeochannels trending NE-SW in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, which are presumedto be the lost river Saraswati. In a study, NRSA used Indian Remote Sensing Satellite

(IRS-P3) Wide Field Sensor (WiFS) data covering the Indus river system to study thepalaeodrainage in northwestern India. The image elements such as tone, colour, texture, pattern, association of WiFS and SIR-C/X-SAR images helped to derive information oncurrent as well as palaeodrainage. WiFS image reveals very faint trace of the riverSaraswati/Ghaggar while in the SIR-C/X-SAR image, the connectivity of thepalaeochannel could be easily established due to the presence of dark irregular shapedfeatures associated with wetness.

An entire submerged city at Dvaraka, theancient port city of Lord Krishna with its massive fort walls, piers, warfs andjetty has been found in the ocean as described in the Mahabharataand otherVedic literatures.

Ekadhikena Purvena (By one more than the previous one)

The proposition "by" means the operations this sutra concerns are eithermultiplication or division. [ In case of addition/subtraction proposition "to" or"from" is used.] Thus this sutra is used for either multiplication or division. It turnsout that it is applicable in both operations.

An interesting application of this sutra is in computing squares of numbers ending in

five. Consider:35x35 = (3x(3+1)) 25 = 12,25The latter portion is multiplied by itself (5 by 5) and the previous portion is multiplied

by one more than itself (3 by 4) resulting in the answer 1225.

It can also be applied in multiplications when the last digit is not 5 but the sum of the

    last digits is the base (10) and the previous parts are the same.Consider:37X33 = (3x4),7x3 = 12,21 29x21 = (2x3),9x1 = 6,09 [Antyayor dashake]

    SPEED OF LIGHT FROM VEDAS

Speed of Light from Rig Veda shloka

In the commentary on Rg Veda by Sayana, it is said :

"With deep respect, I bow to the sun, who travels 2,202yojanas in half a nimisha.

    A yojana is 8 miles.

    A nimisha is 16/75 of a second.

    2,202 yojanas

    x 8 milesx 75/8 nimishas

    -------------------

    = 165,150 miles/sec

One mile is 1,852 meters, i.e. 1.852 kilometers.

    Thus:

    165,150 miles

    x 1.852

    -------------------

    = 306,000 km/sec

Modern science claims the speed of light to be aproximately 300,000kilometers per second.

Ayurveda uses the building blocks of existence -- ether, air, fire, water

and earth elements -- and studies their unique qualities. The fiveelements are manifest in the body as three basic principles known as thetridosha or Vata, Pitta andKapha.

Doshas are present in every living cell. When you are healthy, they arein balance; when disease manifests, there is imbalance. They affect you

on a physical, mental and emotional level and influence all that you areand do.

The texts on Ayurveda offer a unique system of treatment, explainingthe inner intelligence the body has enabling it to heal itself when the

right conditions exist. Ayurvedic practitioners offer lifestyleadjustments that include diet, herbal formulas, color therapy, massage, yoga and meditation. Our environment, our relationships, the food weeat, our work, our climate, our faith and how we function within ourown small universe is of great importance for this will determine ourstate of physical, mental and spiritual happiness and fulfillment.

It says that at around 1500 BC Aryans, (which it says was a tribe from the Europe) invaded

north India plundering and pushing down the local Dravidians (who it says were the original

natives of India) who lived there to down South India. In a nutshell, it says the North Indiansof today belong to an Aryan race which came to India from Europe and todays SouthIndians are the native Indians (called Dravidian Race!) who lived in North India before the

Aryans came! The vedic people who lived in North India during the vedic ages were these

    Aryans, it says!

    THE MYTH OF ARYAN INVASION

How did they arrive at this Date?

First let us see how did they arrive at these dates! It was well known in India in the british

period that Vedas pre-dated Christ, since they definitely pre-dated Buddha who lived some400 years before Christ. Some scholars(!) then said that as per Bible the world was created in

4000 BC(!), and Noahs flood took place in 2500 BC(!). So they decided that AryanInvasion of India must have taken place only after this flood and before Buddha, and hence

    would be around 1500 BC!

    ARYAN is not a race

First of all Aryan is not a race. No where in the vedas and other ancientIndian text is the terms Aryan used to refer to a race!! Aryan in SanskritmeansGentleman. It is used in Sanskrit like how in English we use thetermMr, that s all aboutit!

    THE MYTH OF ARYAN INVASION

How can then Aryans and Dravidians be two separateraces?

The people of south India whom the Aryan Invasion theory says were theoriginal natives, are NOT a race separate from the North Indians! They allbelong to one and the same race. The ancient Indian vedic race. This isbecause, the languages of both, the so called Aryan and Dravidian peoplehave their roots in Sanskrit language. Both worship the same Gods. Bothhave the same epics. Both have same philosophies. Both have historieswhich date back to BC.

    Theory Disproved

    1. ARYAN is not a race

    2. How can then Aryans and Dravidians be two separate races?

    3. Why dont any dravidian folk lore or ancient texts or sayings or stories orepics exist which talk about the so called Aryan invasion?

    4. Also why do the vedic texts talk about locations in South India? The Ramayana,

Mahabharatha all talk about South Indian locations even below and beyondthe main land of India into the Indian ocean like Srilanka!

5.No mention of Europe!:- There is no mention of any location outside themainland of India in any of the vedic texts!

    6. No European Rivers!:- None of the vedic texts talk about rivers outside India!

    7. Saraswati River:- This is a death blow to the Aryan Invasion theory. According tothe Aryan Invasion theory the aryans who invaded India in around 1500 BC

settled on the banks of Indus or Sindhu river in North

    India.

righteous living could fly on their own volition from place to place without the

    aid of flying machine.

In Threthayuga flying machines were of Mantrika category.

In Dwaparayuga flying machines under classification Tantrika were used.

In Kaliyuga, flying machines of Kritaka category were specified.

According to NGopalakrishnan, this technique is used till now for reducing the

melting point of the metals to be alloyed

Rigveda mentions metals like gold, copper, silver and bronze. A

golden earring and necklace are mentioned thus: Hiranyakarnammanigreevam

Sukla yajurveda speaks of tin and lead also:hiranyam chameayaschame seesam chame thrapuschame syaaman cha meloham cha me

"Aavartaas or aerial whirlpools are innumerable in the above regions. Ofthem the whirlpools in the routes of the vimanas are five. In theRekhapathha there occurs the whirlpool of winds. InKakshya-pathha thereoccursKiranavarta or whirlpool from solar rays. InShaktipathha there

It is extremely lamentable that some modern-day Indian Sanskrit scholarscontinue to glorify such European indologists as unbiased students ofSanskrit literature, whose sole aim was to aquire knowledge for its ownsake. The above facts in this essay show very clearly the true motivations ofthese so-called pioneers of indological studies.

However, what is even more lamentable is that the dream of Macaulay hascome truehis vision of creating a caste of Brown Sahibs has become a reality. Nowadays, whilst the western world turns its face towards Indian

philosophy for the answers to lifes complexities, the greatest adversaries of

Vedic culture are the Indians themselvesthe secular politicians, the

journalists, the educationalists, in fact the whole Westernised cream ofIndia. And what is even more paradoxical, is that most of them aresupposedly Hindus.

Upon gaining independence, such people denied India its true identity byretaining the British education and judicial system, without trying to adapt it

to the unique Indian mentality and psychology.

Since the British left India, Indian dress code has also changedconsiderably. Indian men wear western trousers and shirts. If they wearsomething traditional, they are thought of as old -fashioned.

In essence, the youth of India today are taught to be ashamed of beingIndian. They are ashamed of their religion and the ethics given by theirforefathers. They have been made to believe that embracing westernizationis the only way they can progress in life. In this way, the British are still

masters of India and the proselytizing Christian indologists have won theday

Until India wakes up to her mistake and strives to rediscover her spiritualheritage, she will continue to produce Brown sahibs and will remain under
