Upgrading our linear, PID coil current controller› Limited in the number of inputs/outputs› Unable to use the TCV ECRH system in feedback› Unable to add further diagnostic signals

Wanted to include the full TCV actuator set including› Coil currents› Gas valves› ECRH systems› Diagnostic systems

Using real time signals from many more diagnostics› Soft x-ray› Diamagnetic › Photodiodes› And more

A large expansion in the number of inputs and outputs was required

The new controller uses acquisition modules linked to PCs in a modular real time network.

Analogue IO: 384 inputs, 144 outputs Control rates 10 – 100 kHz. Several successful MHD instability and

profile control experiments already carried out.
