News from the Arbor Greene CDDMessage From the Chairman

Dear Fellow AG Residents:We received a significant amount of positive feedback regarding the recent arborist-supervised pruning of CDD-owned trees on the verge areas throughout a number of the villages. Proper maintenance of these beautiful, signature oaks over time is the only way to ensure a proper and consistent aesthetic as the community and the trees age. I also previously noted that their maintenance was necessary as a safety matter.Care for these trees, though, really requires a partnership between the residents and AGCDD. The tree pruning just completed was expensive. It will be done in the future in the remaining villages, and it will be repeated periodically throughout all the villages to encourage growth of a “tree canopy” along the village streets. For the verge trees just pruned, only light maintenance, to keep the skirt raised and the branches growing upward, should be required between CDD-conducted prunings. The AGCDD is counting on you, the residents, to conduct this light maintenance, which is required by the homeowner covenants in any event. Please feel free to contact the administration office to obtain more information on the proper care and maintenance of mature oak trees. There also are many resources online to help. The Board is in the final phase of updating its policy manual and rules of procedure. In advance of formal consideration and adoption of revisions, the Board will make the proposed text to be considered available to the public through the AGCDD website and in hard copy at the administration office. The date of the meeting where the revisions will be discussed and voted on by the Board will be publicized on the announcement board just inside the gatehouse, in the community center, on the website, and via the AGCDD Twitter feed and Facebook page. Keep an eye out, take a look at the proposed revisions, and let the Board know your thoughts. Please remember that the AGCDD Board now holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of every month. The public is welcome to attend and offer comments on any item on the agenda or any issue affecting the community. Meetings are held in the Gathering Room at the clubhouse, and they start at 6:30 p.m. Agendas, of course, are available on the CDD website at www.arborgreene.org and are regularly tweeted via our feed on Twitter @arborgreene.Have a Thoughtful Valentine’s Day and a Happy Presidents’ Day!Adam S. Tanenbaum,

Chair, CDD Board of Supervisors

News from the Arbor Greene HOA

From the Homeowners Association!!

We have a few news items this month. First, we have completed the 1st super inspection of 2014 in January. We continue to appreciate the quick response from residents to remedy the violations. If you have any questions about a violation, please contact Mark Eary with Greenacre Properties. The inspection focus for February will be Mailboxes. The two main inspection areas will be cleaning and replacement. The new mailbox program is now in effect. Information is available on the www.arborgreene.org website or via Mark Eary at Greenacre.Second, we are continuing to work with the CDD on parking. There are no immediate updates to report but this continues to be an important topic for the community. Finally, the Homeowners Association annual meeting is March 25th. There are 4 board seats up for election as part of the staggered terms that were initiated last year. We also have volunteers serving on the Design Review Board and Fining committees. I would encourage you to consider running for a board seat or serving on one of the committees. This is a great way to see exactly how Arbor Greene works and gives you a change to make an impact on your immediate community. At the very least, please complete your ballot. We are your elected representatives and your input matters. Thanks in advance for your assistance.Regards, Sean KiehlHOA President

Message From Your Neighborhood Watch (NWA) Coordinators - Paul & Hally Boucher

“Make the Call, Help Us All”Hello Arbor Greene (AG) Neighbors. We’re happy to hear that most AG residents had a good holiday season with minimal security issues. During the last few months, most phone calls and emails that we received from AG residents were related to suspicious activity or crimes of convenience. If you recall, “crimes of convenience” can occur when thieves find vehicles, garage doors, or homes are left opened or unlocked. The Tampa Police Department (TPD) and the AG NWA strongly urge AG residents to immediately call the TPD to report suspicious activities or persons as well as any known criminal activity, for the following reasons: - Open garage doors, unlocked vehicles, valuables left unattended on our property, etc. may be an “invitation” to thieves to commit crimes; however, unsecured garages or vehicles, etc. give thieves absolutely no right to steal our valuables. By reporting suspicious activities and crimes, TPD and AG NWA are more likely to be able to return your items if the stolen property is recovered. Without police reports to identify your property, those items are likely to be sold for pennies-on-the-dollar at periodic auctions. Filing police reports increase the probability that recovered property can be returned to you.- Reporting suspicious activities or crimes helps provide the TPD with the justification for increased resources of patrol officers and equipment that are assigned to the New Tampa area, including AG. Calling about suspicious activities and crimes not only provides resource justifications for the TPD, they may also deter additional or future crimes when TPD patrols are dispatched to investigate these incidents in our community.- Lastly, calling about suspicious activities or crimes in the AG community assists the TPD in developing and analyzing criminal trends, furthers ongoing investigations, and may prevent follow-on criminal acts that could impact us and our neighbors. TPD Chief Jane Castor often comments that police officers may know where criminals initially operate, but once the criminals “move on,” calls from residents help the TPD identify where those criminals have moved to. A key to an effective criminal deterrence program is timely communication between AG residents and the TPD. Reporting suspicious activities or persons as well as past or current crimes helps us all by making our community that much safer. Our calls can help the TPD prevent crimes and arrest criminals! If you see suspicious person(s) or activity, immediately call the TPD’s Suspicious Activity line (813-231-6130). If you think a crime is about to occur or has been committed against person(s) or property, then immediately dial 9-1-1. In either case, call the TPD from a safe location and do not confront suspicious person(s). The TPD will ask if you about the suspect(s) gender, age, race, clothing, height, weight, etc. and suspect(s) vehicle (including make, model, year, color, license plate number, etc.), if any. The TPD repeatedly asks us to inform AG residents that the TPD wants us to be their “eyes and ears,” watching for and immediately reporting suspicious activity and crimes. Emergency phone numbers on refrigerator magnets are available for FREE at the AG Clubhouse/Community Center. Please see the Clubhouse attendant about this FREE gift coordinated by your AG NWA Coordinators. If you would like to receive additional security tips and other relevant information from the TPD, please email us at [email protected]. Joining this email distribution group does not obligate you to any other NWA activity, but should help you and your family to be better informed and more secure, making AG an even better place to live. AG NWA is an all-volunteer run program overseen by the TPD. Thank you.
