Community Activities Message from the Arbor Greene HOA
Here are a few highlights from the Arbor Greene Cove-
nants and Design Review Guidelines that each home-
owner should be aware of. All of the documents are
posted online for your review.
www.arborgreene.org/arbor-greene/downloads.html.
Your cooperation in keeping Arbor Greene a neighbor-
hood everyone can enjoy is appreciated.
Trimming of Street Trees - Please make sure your
street trees are trimmed according to Arbor Greene’s
policy. Under Article XII, Section 1 of the Arbor
Greene covenants, the individual homeowner is respon-
sible for the trimming and maintenance of the street
trees in front of their home. Branches must be trimmed
back so there is a seven foot clearance over the side-
walk. Branches must be trimmed on the street-side of
the tree to allow for vehicles to pass by without being
struck by over hanging branches. Many of the street
trees have become so overgrown that they are also
blocking the lights. Please take a look at the street trees
in front of your home and remove any overgrown limbs
to keep our neighborhoods safe and well lit. Your co-
operation in keeping the streets and sidewalks accessi-
ble for everyone is appreciated.
Standardized Realtor Sign - Arbor Greene requires a
standardized real estate sign for use on property for sale/
rent in the Arbor Greene community. The sign can be
purchased from Creative Mailbox and Sign Designs at
813-818-7100. No other signs, bills, posters, boxes,
tubes, photos or real estate logos shall be attached to the
sign and/or the post. No deviations or modifications to
the sign or lettering and numbering fonts shall be per-
mitted. In the event of damage or vandalism, the Owner
shall immediately have the sign restored to its original
and approved condition, or remove the sign until such
necessary repairs or replacements of the sign have been
made.

Influenza Influenza is a contagious disease. It is caused by the influenza virus, which can be spread by coughing, sneezing, or
nasal secretions.
Preventing the Flu: The single best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated each year, but good heath habits
like covering your cough and washing your hands often can help stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory
illness like the flu. Here are some ways to prevent the flu:
1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If possible, stay home from work, school, and avoid traveling
when you are sick. This will help prevent others from catching your illness.
2. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from get-
ting sick. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into the bend of your elbow.
3. Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. Wash your hands vigorously together for 15-20 sec-
onds. Singing Happy Birthday to yourself two times takes about 15-20 seconds. For your protection carry hand sani-
tizer or hand wipes for when soap and water are not available.
4. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or
her eyes, nose, or mouth.
5. Get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of fluids, eat nutritious foods, and see your physician if illness does occur.
6. Wipe/clean fitness equipment before use.
Flu Facts:
- The Flu virus can live on surfaces, such as countertops, door knobs, and Fitness Equipment for 24-48 hours.
- Each year in the U.S., the flu virus causes more than 226,000 hospitalizations and about 36,000 deaths.
- Illness can start 1-4 days after exposure, and people may be able to spread the flu virus to others one day before
they feel sick and up to five days after getting sick.
-Even if you are vaccinated you still may get the flu, but the symptoms are usually less severe.
- A flu shot is the best way to protect yourself against seasonal influenza. To learn more about the flu, visit
www.cdc.gov/flu.

Street Light Globe Replacement
During this past year,
from January through
September, The Arbor
Greene CDD replaced
21 broken street light
globes. The globes
cost $184 each and the
total cost to the CDD
was $3,864.
The street lights are
very close to the street
right-of-way trees, and
can be damaged from
tree limbs striking
them, especially dur-
ing a storm. In some
instances the globes were broken by being struck
by an object other than a tree limb. Please notify
the CDD if you see a broken street light globe and
help the CDD save money by trimming your trees
away from the globes.
Low Water Pressure Information
The City of Tampa Water
Department has some helpful
information for you if you
have low water pressure.
1. If you have a water sof-
tener, try bypassing it to see
if there is any change in
pressure. If so, then your
system needs maintenance.
2. Remove the faucet and shower heads and clean the
aerator, as debris and/or calcium buildup can cause a
drop in pressure.
3. Check the pressure from an outside spigot. If you
have a garden hose, detach it from the spigot and run
the water at full volume. If pressure at the outside fau-
cet is good, then there could be an internal plumbing
issue. Galvanized lines deteriorate from the inside and
can limit water flow.
4. Lastly, check the water meter box for leaks, and no-
tify the water department if a leak is present, or call a
plumber if the leak is between the meter and your home.

Tennis Court Rear Gate Closure
This is a friendly reminder that as of
November 15th, the rear access gate to
the tennis courts is no longer open for
tennis court access.
This gate closure is the result of a secu-
rity study that indicated this entrance
must be secured to prevent unauthorized access.
Please use the front gate by the parking lot and park
your vehicle in the front parking lot of the Community

A Message From the Neighborhood Watch Directors
Hello Arbor Greene Neighbors. It’s that time of year again when many of us are
taking trips away from home for the holiday season. Below are some tips to help
secure your home whether you’re on vacation, a business trip, or gone due to an
unexpected event.
The Tampa Police Department (TPD) Vacation Form is available for residents
to begin additional TPD patrols around your home. If you would like to receive the
form, please e-mail us at [email protected]. The form can be
faxed in or called into the TPD at your convenience.
Here are a few security tips to help try to keep your home and valuables safe
while you’re away:
-Do not discuss your absence except with trusted persons who need to know you will be gone. Do not post your
travel plans on Facebook or similar social network sites. Encourage your children to also limit the number of friends
with whom they share their upcoming trip plans.
-Consider having a trusted friend, neighbor, or relative ―house sit‖ while you’re gone. Let them know how to reach
you and your insurance company in an emergency; provide them your cell phone number, vehicle description, and
license plate number. If you cannot have anyone stay at your home, then arrange for someone to occasionally in-
spect your home to make sure nothing has been disturbed.
-Have the Post Office hold your mail, or arrange for a trusted neighbor to pick up your mail, packages, newspapers,
and circulars on your front door and driveway daily.
-Arrange to have your lawn cut and watered. Have a trusted person put out and take in your trash cans and recycling
bins on the days you normally do.
-Move valuables so they cannot be easily seen through windows or doors. If you have a safe deposit box, consider
placing some of your expensive property in that receptacle, including extra credit cards and lists of serial numbers
and photographs of your valuables. Deposit extra cash or paychecks in your bank account.
-Repair broken windows and doors; make sure locks are in good working order. Cut back shrubbery so criminals
cannot hide behind them. Put window shades in normal position – don’t do things which advertise the home is
empty.
-Turn down the volume on your home phone so that it cannot be heard from the outside. To help them determine if
anyone is home, thieves may try calling your number to see if anyone responds to the ringing of the phone. Some
criminals have been able to obtain ―reverse‖ phone directories which give your address and your home phone.
-Put indoor lights and a radio or television on timers so they turn off and on and give the appearance someone is in
the house. Added protection can be achieved if you have a trusted person rearrange the timer-controlled lights to
present a different pattern for part of your absence.
-Close and secure your garage doors and consider putting a lock on them on the inside. Lock all vehicles which re-
main at your home even if they are in the garage … don’t forget to remove valuables from the vehicles. If you have
electronic devices on your lanai or bicycles/scooters in the backyard, put them in a secure location.
-Finally, some of the most basic and important security tips are to lock all doors, windows, lanai doors, and fence
gates; turn on (timer) for front and rear lights; and turn on an alarm system if you have one.
Emergency phone numbers on refrigerator magnets are available for FREE at the Arbor Greene Clubhouse
Office. Please see the Clubhouse attendant for this FREE gift coordinated by your Neighborhood Watch Co-
Leaders.
If you would like to receive additional security tips and other relevant information from Tampa Police Department,
please e-mail us at [email protected]. Joining this e-mail distribution group does not obligate you
to any other Neighborhood Watch activity, but should help you and your family to become better informed and
more secure.

Attention Residents
If you are planning to host a
charitable or commercial event
at the Arbor Greene Community
Center, please remember these
events require CDD Board of
Supervisors’ pre-approval. Call
991-9226 with any questions.
The CDD Board meets once per month, so plan to
attend and present your requests to the Board.
Owned And Operated by NRT
Front Gate Safety Information Some drivers are entering
Arbor Greene without being
logged in by the gate atten-
dant by ―tailgating‖ resident
vehicles through the resident
gate while the gate attendant
is busy logging in visitors.
Residents with a new vehi-
cle that does not have a bar-
code are requested to use the visitor lane until they are
able to obtain a barcode for their vehicle. For the past
year, Arbor Greene averaged 822 visitors per day or ap-
proximately 30,000 visitors. So please be considerate of
your neighbors by not using the barcode lane and hold-
ing up other residents while the gate attendant obtains
your information for entry. And please, for your safety
and to avoid damages to your vehicle, do not ―run the
gate‖. Any damage to CDD property is the responsibility
of the driver.
In order to know who is entering the community, all per-
sons without an Arbor Greene barcode or a working bar-
code are required to provide information regarding their
visit to the gate attendants. U.S. Security Associates,
who provides the gate attendants, requests residents to
have their guests follow them into Arbor Greene via the
visitor lane so they can be logged in by the gate atten-
dant. This is especially important on the night shift.
For your additional safety, visitors arriving between
10PM and 6AM must have resident approval before be-
ing permitted to enter the community. Visitors must also
have the resident’s telephone number so that the gate at-
tendant can call the resident and obtain permission for
the visitor to visit.
For the residents’ convenience, barcodes may be ob-
tained at the clubhouse from the attendant on duty during
our regular work hours; Mon-Fri from 6:30AM-9PM;
Saturday from 9AM-9PM; and Sunday from 9AM-7PM.
