This interconnected computer in local area network enables issuance of bar-coded books to the students on two computer systems – each system for issuance of books and return of books is separated for speedy circulation and searching of book through OPAC on circulation counter. Another node in LAN carries out registration process of students and other related library functions as per provision made in the software. All the books are accessioning in SOUL 2.0 and bar-coding for the circulation purpose through two machines scanners attached to the PCs. Out of eight computers in the library five are allotted to free internet access to the students and the staff to search, browse and download relevant material for teaching and research purpose. All computer systems are loaded with antivirus software and UPS is used as security measure to protect the hardware and uninterrupted electric supply to computer machines.
