Welcome new traveling dealers. Thank you for choosing Sullivan Supply.

Fitting Tip From The Pro’s - SHANE GEIST When fitting a leg you want to use a product that is going toprevail in all kinds of weather – winter, spring, summer, andfall. That is why I use Sullivan’s Tail Adhesive and Touch–UpProducts. They dry completely and allow for a smooth finishafter clipping, while holding up on hot or foggy days. We useSullivan’s Auburn Touch-Up to cover up the White Touch-Up,and then we finish using Sullivan’s Black Finisher.

— Become friends —

I cannot believe that it is already May! The days, weeks, and first months of the year, have flown by. My hours are filled with magazine work, CJLA, my home and family, and whatever comes up that needs to be done. I make lists and notes constantly to keep track of everything that comes my way, so hopefully I can stay on top of it all. Of course, you know what they say about the best laid plans….it never fails, something unexpected is thrown into the mix to keep me hopping.

For busy families with busy kids, every hour is filled with to-do lists; projects, school, sports, animal responsibilities and sched-ules of all kinds. After juggling all the lists, it is either time to load up the trailer to head to a show or load up the vehicle to head to a sports event – there is always somewhere you have to be! Households are on-the-go from the time the sun comes up, until way after it goes down most days of the week.

Whew! That makes me a little tired just writing about it! I know how much dedication and organization it takes to get everything done. In our “All Around Kid” section in this issue, you will see a group of young people who have figured out how to be involved in school and sports, in addition to the animals they raise and show. They make plans, set goals, and stay focused on what they want to achieve. They can’t do it alone though, parents, siblings and others usually all pitch in when needed to help out.

Over and over, day in and day out, we see the positive influences animal production has on our youth. Not only are they raising an animal for a fair, they are personally responsible for the care and well-being of their projects. They must make plans, set goals, work hard and accept responsibility for the enterprise they have taken on. These lessons and values flow over into everything they do, and it is exciting to watch them succeed on so many levels. The Pacific Showcase congratulates everyone who is grabbing life by the horns and involving themselves in so many different experiences!

In this issue, we also highlight the shining stars of the California Junior Livestock Association for their achievements this past year. Check out our feature on the activities of the Banquet, and our recognition of all those who generously support this organi-zation. The CJLA has a new website which we are very excited about! Check it out at www.cjlainfo.com.

As these days of Spring turn into Summer, I wish you all good luck at your county fairs, state fair, jackpots, and any other activi-ties you are involved in! If you have news or photos you would like to see in this magazine, send them in to us or give us a call and let us know.

Don’t forget, we are always looking for hot shot photos, news, and events, to add to the information we put in each issue. If you move, please let us know right away so you don’t miss an issue!

Boneso Livestock, along with Chad Holtkamp / Holtkamp Cattle, Wade Rodgers / Rodgers Livestock and Chris Rosa / Hunter Brothers, partnered on the bull "Walks on Water" that became a crowd favorite in the yards at Denver in 2010. We were very fortunate and appreciative that some of the best producers from around the country thought enough of our bull that they used Walks on Water to flush and breed to their top cows, and now the first calf reports are coming in — they are very positive. At Boneso Livestock we flushed several of our top Donor Cows to Walks on Water and are very excited with the results as well. All of our Walks on Water calves were born unassisted at a manageable birth weight, with lots of vigor and they hit the ground running.

We think that Walks on Water is a "Changer" and we are very excited about his future in the club calf industry. Semen is available at most major semen distributors, and in California it can be purchased through Boneso Livestock and Lander Vet Clinic in Turlock, CA.

This year Boneso Livestock will again be selling calves with Breeders World Online Sales. We will be having two sales

this year, with the first sale being held on Oc-tober 17, 2011. It will feature our steers that will consist of full sibs to the Reserve Grand Steer at the 2010 New Mexico State Fair, as well as ma-ternal sibs sired by Monopoly and Walks on Water, to mention a few. Our second sale will also be with Breeders World Online Sales on November 29th, 2011, and will showcase select females and some select Embryo offerings from our top donor cows bred to the some of the top bulls in the industry. Visit our website at www.bonesolivestock.com to view calf, donor and bull pictures as well as updates for sales and up-coming events.

Jerry & Ada Pfeiffer - Orlando, OK

Last year, we found that Kid’s Choice Total provided us a significant impact of newborn health and survival with our late spring crop.

We would have never saved “Down In Flames” without multiple doses of Kid’s Choice Total with these young does last spring. Kid’s Choice Total is now part of every newborn kid protocol in the barn within hours after birth” !

important cJla news

Be sure to check out the section in this issue featuring the CJLA Award Banquet. We congratulate all the winners and say Thank You to all the sponsors and everyone who helped out in any way - without you, we could not have accomplished any of it!

We are so excited to announce that the CJLA has a NEW WEBSITE!! Check us out at www.cjlainfo.com. The website will be updated regularly and feature many new sections for your information.

In this issue is the first set of points. In the Heifer Division, your points will be listed under the breed you exhibited at the sanctioned shows. In order for your points to count in one of our heifer breed divisions, you must have paid (by March 31, 2011) current year dues in that California Junior Association in addi-tion to the CJLA. As I go to print, I am still waiting for a couple of membership lists from the California Heifer Associations. When I get those lists, if you are not a current paid member of that association, I will move your points into the AOB division. In the Heifer and Steer divisions, if you have not yet earned points, your name will be listed in the Overall section. In the Lamb, Hog, and Goat divisions, your names will be listed in youíre age group. Please look for your name in the divisions you joined for 2011. Let me know if you have any questions at all. Points are published and listed on the new website bi-monthly in conjunction with each issue of this magazine.

Plex® in their food to reduce muscle tie up from aerobic exercise when running fast. If they think I’m going to be running, well, I’m just going to have a real long conversation with my owner! I’m thinking long and lean but not from running like a horse. It’s from the wonderful genetics that you passed on to me. Ma’Ma, I overheard my owner talking about genes and how the difference between the other selenium sources and Sel-Plex® can show up at the gene level. Wow, pretty cool, thinking how just a small

thing can influence my immunity. It’s just so important that as I get ready for all of the shows that my immunity is working at its peak. I just don’t want to think about getting sick from being in all those places and going off my food. I could lose weight and never be able to win that big “Best of Show” ribbon like you. Ma’Ma, as you have always told

me, the risk is just not worth it. I’m making sure to take my Sel-Plex® every single day.

All this talk of food and all those good things inside it just makes me squeal and my tail to curl!

Here comes my dinner. I’ll keep in touch!

Sent From my pPhone.

Ma’Ma:

I arrived safe at my new home. It is warm, clean and has a nice cover so that I can go inside when the weather is not perfect. I have fresh water all the time. My owner is so very dedicated to my comfort. A great big clean bed all to myself; I’m going to miss my little sisters (not!). I get the most wonderful food two times a day. My owner, who feeds me, is ever so careful, and never spills a bit. Ma’ma, the food here is just as good as at home! You always told me to make sure to read my labels, and to make sure that my diet contains Sel-Plex®. My immune system is so important. Sel-Plex® is the form of selenium most like what is found in all my good grains. When I get bigger and my owner takes me to shows; my immune system need to be functioning at its best. See Ma’Ma, I was listening to you! Selenium in the right form makes a big difference. Just like when you were pregnant with me, and Sel-Plex® was in your gestation feed, you were able to make better milk and colostrum so I could grow up big and ready to do my best for my human friends. Sel-Plex® works as an antioxidant and reduces the stress on my muscles from all the exercise that my human has planned for me. Oh, Ma’Ma, the owner’s advisor was telling my owner how many miles I am going to be walking in a day. They keep talking about my lean long frame, and they keep eyeing my glutes! With the amount of exercise I’m going to be getting you would think I was a race horse! I know that race horses get Sel-

2010 AGR Holiday Classic Grand Champion Steer shown by Amber Shoemaker (OH)

User friendly and forgiving, this adhesive is perfect for both novice and experienced fitters. Its lightweight, flexible formula works well on soft, manageable

hair that requires less hold.

Ideal when moderate hold is needed, this adhesive builds volume and body while adding definition and

shape to average, typical hair coats. Workable hold and a natural look

make this a versatile formula.

This adhesive provides long-lasting, firm hold with minimal to no fall

down. It is the perfect choice for stiff, stubborn hair.

Formulas are Free From Methylene Chloride!Methylene chloride, a known cancer-causing agent that’s banned in several states, is used in many ad-hesives currently on the market to promote drying. Created by expert chemists, Stierwalt formulas offer amazing, fast-drying performance without the use of methylene chloride, making them safe for users, animals and the environment.

“This new line of adhesives provides novice, intermediate and experienced fitters a great selection to choose from. With three degrees of adhesive strength, they also do a great job on stiff, fine or unmanage-able hair. At my clinics, I tell everyone the two general rules I live by when working with adhesives: 1) the stiffer the hair, the stronger the adhesive needs to be and 2) spray a little, comb a lot.” Kirk Stierwalt, Professional Cattle Expert

When performance counts, you can depend on Stierwalt adhesives to deliver. These showmen did and look at the results!

“The bull was fit with Weaver products. The strong adhesive will be a mainstay in my showbox. I really appreciate the quality and thought that went into these products. They were obviously designed by a professional for professionals.”
