Reg Charity No. 215199 Issue 7 April/May 2011
Our treasure Hunt at Botanic Gardens was a huge success, children and adults
joined in the fun following the clues. Thank you to everyone that came and made
it the huge success that it was!
Some of those questions were tricky! June checking the answers!
We have a family Fun Day coming up in June and as it is on Fathers Day there
will be a free gift for the first 20 dads! (See page 2)
This year we are asking that people bring their own picnic, juice, coffee and tea
will be available to purchase.
Keep checking in for details of future events, Christmas Party etc.
Our website has been updated and we would value your views on it. Is there
anything else that you think would be of benefit on there?
We have donated a set of scales and a carbohydrate counting book for teaching
purposes to the children’s ward and a set of scales to the diabetic clinic at
Ormskirk hospital.
The scales can calculate the carbohydrate value by the weight of the food
against a code for the type of food.

YOUR NHS
Local families have brought to our attention the detrimental effects of the
inequity of care provided by the two local Primary care trusts.
Families on the Sefton side have a full time paediatric diabetes specialist nurse
who can be contacted on a daily basis whilst families on the Central Lancashire
side have this support for only one day per week.
Thanks to the efforts of Dr Ng Sefton children now have access to insulin
pumps where necessary but Central Lancashire children are being denied this
opportunity because of the lack of specialist nursing support.
We will be contacting the Pct about this issue.
If you are being affected, or have any concerns you would like us to put to them
please contact us.
Parents Tip
When travelling abroad always take one full spare set of everything medical and
carry in two different hand luggage’s.
