Mi nombre es Jorge Solorio y trabajo como foreman. Estoy casado y tengo hijos. Estoy en el Programa de Aprendizaje para aprender mas. Estoy aprendiendo más sobre cómo hacer mejor mi trabajo. Mi deporte favorito es el fútbol Americano y mi pasatiempo es ir a correr con mis hijos. Cuando tengo algo de tiempo me gusta estudiar mas de mi trabajo. Mi objetivo es superarme mas. Algo que las personas nunca adivinarían de mí es que soy carismático. Algo que me hubiera gustado saber el día que empecé aquí saber inglés. Alguien en el trabajo que me ha inspirado es Ladislao. My name is Ernesto Crispino and I have been an installer for North Sac HVAC for almost 4 year. I am married and have kids. I am here because this job is not just a job for me it’s a career; as long as I am here I will give it all I got. Something I like about the Apprenticeship Program is we get to lean more on how to talk and take care of a Super. My favorite sport is basketball and my hobby is working on cars. When I have time I love to play games with my kids. My goal is to be someone in this company and give my kids a better life. Something people would never guess about me is I am a hard worker. One lesson I would share with new people is that being motivated to do something will open many opportunities to succeed. Something I am grateful is for this job and having great supervisors and for giving me this opportunity to show them what I can provide them.

Mi nombre es Abel Villalobos y trabajo como supervisor de plomería. Estoy ca-sado y tengo una hija. Estoy en el Programa de Aprendizaje porque me tra-tan muy bien y por tantas oportunidades. Estoy aprendiendo más sobre como desarrollarme mas como supervisor. Algo que me gusta de la clase es toda la información que se proporcionan para aprender más sobre cómo hablar con las personas. Mi deporte favorito es el boxeo y mi pasatiempo es pasar tiempo con mi hija. Mi objetivo es ser Manager. Algo que las personas nunca adivinarían de mí es que me encantan las mujeres. La lección que compartiría con gente nueva sería importante, nunca abandones las cosas importantes que quieres hacer en tu carrera. Alguien en el trabajo que me ha inspirado es John Chanda. Estoy agradecido por la oportunidad que se me dio como supervisor.

Mi nombre es Victor Arroyo y trabajo en plomería. Estoy casado y tengo 3 niños. Estoy en el Programa de Aprendizaje para salir adelante en la vida. Estoy apren-diendo más sobre como ser supervisor y como hacer los trabajos. Algo que me gusta de la clase es que estoy aprendiendo muchas cosas del trabajo. Mi deporte favorito y mi pasatiempo es fútbol. Mi objetivo es ser Manager. Cuando tengo algo de tiempo me gusta estar con mi familia. Mi objetivo es ser Forman o Su-pervisor de plomería. Algo que las personas nunca adivinarían de mí es que soy muy enojón. La lección que compartiría con gente nueva sería enseñar lo que ya he aprendido. Alguien en el trabajo que me ha inspirado es Octovio Perez. Estoy agradecido porque cada día que pasa me supero en mi trabajo gracias a Villara.

My name is Shaun Stanner and I work as a Plumber for Plumbing Retro for about 3.5 years. I am married and have a son. I am here for a career. In the Appren-ticeship Class I am learning about mentoring, coaching and supervision. Some-thing I like about the Apprenticeship Program is teaching it. My favorite sport is mixed martial arts and my hobbies include riding my Harley. When I have time I love to play with my son. My goal is to be mentally and emotionally fulfilled. I wish I knew the day I started here was to be patient. One lesson I would share with the new people would to be teachable. One person that has inspired me at work would be George Martinez. Something I am grateful for is my recovery, my wife and my son.

Estoy aprendiendo más sobre el proceso de la empresa y cómo hacer mejor mi trabajo. Algo que me gusta son los procedimientos de la clase. Mi de-porte favorito es el fútbol y mi pasatiempo es ver la tele. Cuando tengo algo de tiempo me gusta estar con mi familia. Mi objetivo es ser alguien importante en Villara. My name is Ruben Gonzalez and I work as a Lead Plumber for Retro for about 3 years. I am married and have two daughters and a Pitbull. I am here because I enjoy doing my job and working for Villara. I believe this company holds countless career opportunities form myself and other. I’m here because I see our commitment to quality and our constant investment in our workers. Every day I learn new codes and their application, jurisdiction and types of structure. I’m learning to be the best leader I can be. By leading by example and directing tasks with fairness and efficiency in mind. Something I like about the Apprenticeship Program is learning about all the things that happen in the office. I like hearing about design, estimating, bidding, contracts, ect…

My favorite sport is MMA and Football. My hobbies are being the #1 dad, snowboarding, skateboarding, Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, weight lifting, golf, slow pitch softball, running with the dog, and playing with the kids. When I have time I like to snowboarding, its up there with family time, but all of the above. My goal are to finish Bachelor’s degree, buy house, get in shape, and obtain an executive position or build a company with equal or greater stature that Villara has. Life goal is to be CEO, CFO, VP or possibly owner of a power house company with the brand loyalty and name recognition that Villara has created. Something people would never guess about me is that I am smarter than I look and wise beyond my years. I knew the day I started here more about the various trades and career opportunities we offer. The lesson I would share with new people is always treat others with respect, and lead by example. Never make anyone do anything you are not willing to do yourself. Be a man of your word. One person at work that inspires me is Shaun Stanner. Something I am grateful for is my family.

My name is Dioney Navarro and I work as an HVAC Installer for about 4 years. I am married and have two kids. I am here to provide for my family and grow. In the Apprenticeship class I am learning a lot about how supervisor keep this company running. Something I like about the Apprenticeship program is we learn new things every day not just about the work, but for our daily life too. My fa-vorite sport is soccer and my hobbies are fishing and traveling. When I have time I love to travel to new places. My goal is to be financially stable within 5 years. Something people would never guess about me is my toes got cut off when I was little, but they put them back. Something I wish I knew the day I started here was how to move up faster and get more involved. One lesson I would share with the new people would be to work hard and look for opportunity. One person that has inspired me at work is Antonio Navarro. Something I am grateful for is my family.

I have always been the type to organize things. I love finding ways to make things more streamlined, efficient and coordinated. As a small child I would line up all my toys in size order and to this day all my clothes are hung in ROYGBIV. With all of the Lean changes happening at Villara, it motivated me to tackle something that has bugged me for a while… my garage.

Ever since I watched Home Improvement as a child, I wanted a garage that was not only clean, but laid out well and organized enough to make finding what I need while working on projects a breeze. To be able to visually see exactly what I needed and be able to grab it and easily put it back was something I fantasized about. My house even had a peg board already mounted in the garage but it was never accessible.

When my ex-husband lived with me, we had a mere walking path through the garage. Boxes and bags stacked up high kept you from even navigating the space. After several years of sorting, cleaning, purging and organizing; I was finally able to park my car in the garage but it was still not the workshop I envisioned.

For the past few months I have been Sorting, Straightening and Sweeping my home, yards and garage; and it has seen vast improvement! This past weekend I held a garage sale to rid myself of a ton of stuff and went out and

bought items to help me move on to the Standardize phase. I was SO excited to hang my tools, sort my shelf items and organize loose stuff into boxes to be easily pulled out to access their contents. EVERYTHING HAD A PLACE AND IT WAS IN IT!

I’m not done yet, need to get more hangers for tools (and more tools), want to Sort some more and I may even create some shadow boards to help me Sustain my efforts with greater ease. All of this will also lead to increased Safety and time savings when I am working on projects and need to find specific items. I wish I had some “before” pics to share but at least I have some midway ones to be proud of.

While I’m not done, I feel like Al Borland and Tim Taylor would give me a pat on the back. They may also suggest that I need more power and that I have room for a table saw now…..they would not be wrong :)

And following October, surely No-vember slipped a bit, what with the Thanksgiving 4-day holiday week-end and all, right? WRONG! Billings also came in at 110% of plan, and our Pre-bonus operating profit came in at a whopping 147% of plan! HOORAAH! For both months together we are 110% of billing and 137% of Pre-bonus operating profit.

That gives us a very strong start in 2019, and we’re excited to welcome 93 new participants to the 2019 Bo-nus program (you will all receive in-vitations to special “New Participant Pre-Bonus informational meetings” very soon). Let’s keep up the great work as we now enter the new cal-endar year. If we can avoid the weak months that we experienced in the middle of 2018, we can enjoy an even better 2019.

The only worrisome aspect of our business that we’re watching closely is our new contract bookings: they are coming in below our pace of billing, which will eventually lead to billing declines. It’s way too early to worry, as the 4th calendar quarter can be light-er in bookings as builders wrap up their business year, but we all know that the housing market has slowed a bit during the election season and as interest rates have bumped up.

Many forecasters predict a turn-around as winter winds down, and

that tends to be our prediction as well. Along with our lagging contract bookings, we also have our normal winter-weather impacts, so we know the next few months will most like-ly be our most challenging when it comes to meeting and beating our profit goals. We ask for your best help and ideas: let’s not lose the benefit of such a strong start to the year.

We continue to work hard on the de- ployment of our “Lean Transfor-mation”, and hopefully all of you are seeing symptoms of this transforma-tion and will aggressively participate. Just last week we began intensive training for our top Leaders, and you should begin to see implementations of “5-S”, “Standard Work”, “Gemba Walks”, and an even odder activity called “Standing in the Circle”.

That is it for now, and once again I want to thank all of you for your hard work every day that is Building Dreams for all of us. Let’s keep up the great work so that 2019 is our best year ever!

Don’t you love the long days of

sunlight! I love summer, and it is

coming!

We just wrapped up our March

financial results, which is exactly

the mid-point of our fiscal year, so

with half the year “in the books”,

how are we doing?

In a word: AWESOME! First, let’s

talk about March. As has been the

case the last few months, the long

winter rains have led to lower billing

numbers, as builders have not

been able to start as many homes.

March is our biggest revenue miss

so far this year, with final revenue

coming in 6% below our Plan. That

always makes profits harder to

come by, at least for most teams.

NOT THIS TEAM! You guys smoked

it! March profits came in almost 3

times what our Plan called for. Not

only was it an incredible month

for a winter month, but it was an

incredible month for any month of

the year.
