BA Hons Applied Arts

• Main material practice areas of Ceramics, Glass and Metals

• Excellent workshops facilities including workshops for hot glass, kiln glass, cold processing, architectural glass, slumping/fusing glass, kiln casting glass, plaster mould making, Wheel throwing, slab rolling, extruder, jigger/jolly, outdoor kiln yard, bronze casting, jewellery/silversmithing, Large scale metals, wood, plastics, 3d printing, laser cutters, CAD/Computer suites, screen printing, decal/transfer printing, etching, sandblasting, etc

• 3 Years full time• 6 x 20 credit modules at level 4 + 5 (1st and 2nd years)

4 x 20 credit modules at level 6 (3rd year) + 1 x 40 credit module

• Level 4 – Material rotations, contextual studies, research skills, sketch/design, Study trips, independent study

• Level 5 – ‘Off site’ exhibition module, Live/self directed projects, contextual studies + optional Erasmus study/work experience

• Level 6 – ‘Major Project’ , Dissertation, Professional Portfolio development, Degree show, New Designers

• Progression – Postgraduate study (MA Applied Arts), PGCE (Teacher Training), workshop assistant/apprenticeship, setting up a workshop, artists in residence, technician
