Applicant Visit Day

Your Applicant Visit Day will start at 12.30pm and finish at approximately6.00pm. The following programme outlines what you can expect fromyour day:

12.30-1.30pm Arrival, Registration and Lunch

1.30-2.30pm Welcome Talk including information regarding student finance, accommodation and the Students’ Union

2.30-3.30pm Campus and Accommodation Tours

3.30-4.00pm Department Networking and Coffee Break

4.00-4.30pm Department Welcome and Overviewincluding a brief talk from a current studentabout their experiences

4.30-6.00pm Subject Taster Session – Applicant OnlyorParents Information – Parents and Visitors

Subject Sessions

This day will give you the opportunity to find out more about your chosenprogramme and meet tutors and current students from the Departmentyou will be studying in. The subject taster sessions have been designed togive you a hands-on experience of your chosen course.

These sessions are for applicants only

Department of Sport and Physical Activity Coach Education

In a session relevant to both the Community coaching and HighPerformance coaching pathways you will use specialist IT facilities toconduct a performance analysis.

Physical Education and School Sport

In this session you will work in groups and take part in three practicalactivities which comprise team building, orienteering and games making.You will have an opportunity to use the gym facilities and have some fun.

Sport and Exercise Science

This session allows you to work in the sports laboratories. Working ingroups you will take part in three separate practical activities.

Sports StudiesSports Development

In this session you will have the opportunity to participate in a topicaldebate on key issues in sport for example ‘Drugs in Sport’.

Sports Therapy

In this interactive taster you will participate in five activities which willdemonstrate a rehabilitation class, core stability session, electrotherapy,massage and clinic work.

By road via the M6, off at junction 26, then onto the M58, off at junction 3, taking the A570towards Southport and Ormskirk. The campus can also be reached from Preston or Liverpoolvia the A59.

By rail from Liverpool Central to Ormskirk station on Merseyrail's Northern Line or Preston toOrmskirk station on Northern Rail.

The Edge Link bus service is a fast, cheap and reliable way to get to the campus fromOrmskirk Bus Station. During term-time this service runs every 15 minutes, 8.05am –5.50pm, Monday-Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) and 8.05am – 5.50pm on Saturdays.
