(49 sc; 1 sl st) Joining apples Working in back lps only, whip- stitch bottom 7 sts of apple to the center 7 sts on top of another apple. Rep until a total of 15 apples are joined for panel. Rnd 2: Ch 3, 3 dc in next dc, work- ing around entire outer edge, dc in each dc, 2 dc in each ch-2 sp and 3 dc in each center corner dc, join in top of beg ch-3, fasten off. Rnd 3: Attach paddy green in cen- ter corner dc at right bottom edge, ch 5 (counts as first dc, ch 2), dc in same st as beg ch-5, *[ch 2, sk next st, dc in next st] rep across edge making ad- justments as needed to work in center corner st, [dc, ch 2, dc] in center cor- ner st, [ch 2, sk next st, dc in next st] rep across top to center corner st **, [dc, ch 2, dc] in center corner st, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-5. Rnd 4: Attach cornmeal in center bottom corner ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same ch-2 sp, dc in each dc and dc in each ch-1 sp around the entire outer edge, working 3 dc in each corner ch-2 sp, join in top of beg ch-3, fasten off. Stem Make 15 Row 1: With mid brown, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, leaving a length of yarn, fas- ten off. (5 sc) Sew a stem to center top of each apple, curving slightly to the right. Leaf Make 15 Rnd 1: With paddy green, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 2 chs, 3 sc in last ch, working on op- posite side of foundation ch, sc in next 3 chs, join in beg sc. (9 sc) Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc as beg ch-1, hdc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc, ch 2, sc] in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, hdc in next sc, sc in next sc, join in beg sc, leaving a length of yarn, fasten off. Sew a leaf to each apple, curving slightly to the left and over the bot- tom edge of stem. ASSEMBLY With RS of panels tog, working in back lps only and beg at bottom edge of panels, whipstitch panels tog. Rep until all panels are joined tog. EDGING Rnd 1: Attach cornmeal in any center corner st, ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in each st and at each seam joining around entire outer edge, working 3 dc in each corner dc, join in top of beg ch-3, fasten off.
