Special Exclusion (COVID-19)

This Policy does not cover and we will not (under any sections) pay for claims of any kind directly or indirectly arising from, relating to or in any way connected with the Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) (or any mutation or variation thereof) and/or its outbreak.

To the extent that any term or condition in the Policy may be inconsistent with this exclusion, this exclusion shall prevail.

Travel Tips

• Take out travel insurance at the time or once You have booked Your Trip.

• Check the travel advice issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) for Your travel Destination and the countries You plan to visit on Your Trip.

• Register Your Trip with MFAT. • Visit Your Doctor and dentist for a general check-up before You leave

Home. Ask about any vaccinations relevant to Your Destination and any other countries You intend to visit during Your Trip. Ensure Your regular vaccinations, such as the flu shot and tetanus shot, are up to date. Get Your Doctor to print a list of all Your current medications, their generic names, dosages and frequency taken. Print a spare copy and keep it separate from Your main luggage.

• Pack a sufficient supply of Your regular medications in Your carry-on luggage. This way, if Your luggage is lost or delayed You won’t have any concern over taking Your medication as required.

• Find out the emergency services contact numbers for the Destination(s) and any other countries You are travelling to. Record the numbers for police, ambulance, Your travel insurance provider and the nearest New Zealand Embassy.

These travel tips are intended as general information only and do not take into consideration Your personal circumstances. Chubb does not accept any liability arising from any reliance upon these travel tips.

Excess

• The Excess is the first amount of each claim which You must pay. The Excess amount is specified on Your Certificate of Insurance. If a claim is covered, the Excess is deducted after any relevant depreciation and limits have been applied to the claim amount.

• An Excess may also be a waiting period, which is the amount of time You have to wait until the benefit may become payable.

• An Excess is applied for each Plan, for each Event.

Examples+

Example A: Example B: Example C:

Anna travels to Europe and while in Spain her laptop is stolen. She reports the theft to the police and provides Us with the required documentation. Anna paid $1,000 for her laptop 6 months prior to this Event.

a) Establish original purchase price of the laptop: $1,000

b) Apply depreciation*: • 2.5% per month for 6

months = 15% depreciation.

• 15% of $1,000 = $150 total depreciation.

a) Establish current value of the laptop by subtracting depreciation from the purchase price of the laptop • $1,000 - $150 = $850

b) Check the total and per item limit shown in the Benefits Table and select the lower of current value of the laptop or the item limit. Per item limit is $2,500 which is higher than the current value of $850, hence We take the lower number = $850

c) Deduct the Excess of $250: $850 - $250 = $600 Amount payable to Anna

Jane travels to Brazil and while in Brazil her laptop is stolen. She reports the theft to the police and provides Us with the required documentation. Jane paid $6,000 for her laptop 12 months prior to this Event.

a) Establish original purchase price of the laptop: $6,000

b) Apply depreciation*: • 2.5% per month for 12

months = 30% depreciation.

• 30% of $6,000 = $1,800 total depreciation.

c) Establish current value of the laptop by subtracting depreciation from the purchase price of the laptop • $6,000 - $1,800 =

$4,200

d) Check the total and per item limit shown in the Benefits Table and select the lower of current value of the laptop or the item limit. Per item limit is $2,500 which is lower than the current value $4,200, hence We take the lower number = $2,500

e) Deduct the Excess of $250: $2,500 - $250 = $2,250 Amount payable to Jane

Rob travels to France and while in France he accidentally breaks his leg. Rob goes to a hospital and gets treated for his injury. The total cost of medical treatment is $800. Rob files a claims with Us.

a) Cost of medical treatment: $800

b) Check the total limit shown in the Benefits Table and select the lower of cost of medical treatment or the limit. Total limit is $500,000, hence We take the lower number = $800

c) Deduct the Excess of $250: $800 - $250 = $550 Amount payable to Rob

+ The above examples are provided for illustrative purposes only. Each claim will be assessed individually, based on the facts relative to the specific claim

* For depreciation details, please review Section 4 – Personal Belongings and Travel Documents

We utilise our dedicated special investigations unit at Chubb to detect and investigate selected claims on a daily basis, and when the evidence supports it, Chubb will report suspect claims to the police and dedicate resources to assisting any potential criminal prosecutions.

Section 4 – Personal Belongings and Travel Documents

We will pay under Section 4:

4.1 If, during the Period of Insurance and while on a Trip, Your Personal Belongings or travel documents are lost, stolen or damaged, We will, at Our discretion:

• reimburse their value; • repair; or • replace them.

We will allow for depreciation, and apply relevant Policy limits, sub limits, and Excess to the amount We pay.

Sub limits apply for any one (1) item of Your Personal Belongings. A set or pair of items will be treated as one (1) item for the purpose of this sub limit. For example (but not limited to), the following groupings are each considered one (1) item:

• camera, lenses, tripods and other accessories (attached or not); or • smart phone and cover case; or • necklace and pendant; or • earrings; or • bracelets with accessories.

If an item is part of a set or pair, We will only reimburse/replace the proportional value of that item, not the full value of the set or pair.

For example, if the value of a set of earrings is $100 and one of the earrings is lost, We will reimburse/replace $50.

No allowance is made for any special value which the item may have as a pair or set.

4.2 You may additionally select to increase Personal Belongings cover by selecting a level of coverage for an individual item which will be listed on Your Certificate of Insurance. Your premium will change based on Your selection.

All benefits are subject to limits and sub-limits as shown in the Benefits Table.

Depreciation

If You are claiming under Section 4 or You purchased the Winter Sports Pack and are claiming for lost/stolen/damaged Winter Sports Equipment, We will apply depreciation to determine the value of Your Personal Belongings and Winter Sports Equipment as specified in the table below.

Depreciation takes into account an item’s age, wear and tear and advances in technology. Depreciation will be calculated from the date of purchase of the item to the date of claimable Event, based on the original purchase price.

For example: If You purchased a mobile phone for $1,000, went on a Trip and the phone was stolen, We will calculate the number of months between the date You purchased Your phone and the claimable Event date. Suppose the number of months is 6, We will calculate the depreciation as follows:

• Number of months = 6 • 6 multiplied by depreciation for Electronic Equipment of 2.5% = 15% • Depreciation: $1,000 multiplied by 15% = $150 • Current value of Your phone: $1,000-$150 = $850 (less any Excess)

Please refer to the Special Exclusion (COVID-19) on page 31.
