MUSEUM QUARTERDeze sfeervolle woning is gelegen in ‘Duivelseiland’, onderdeel van de bekende wijk ‘Oud Zuid’ in Amsterdam. De wijk staat bekend vanwege de talrijke musea waaronder het Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum en het Stedelijk Museum. Typerend zijn de authentieke panden; zo ook deze woning die een samenvoeging vormt van wat ooit twee winkeltjes waren.

This stylish home is located in ‘Duivelseiland,’ part of Amsterdam’s well-known ’Oud-Zuid’ district. Famous as being the home of many museums, including the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, and the Stedelijk Museum, it is also well known for its authentic buildings such as the one here – a conversion of what were once two small shops.


INTERNATIONAL BRANDSDe woning wordt door niemand minder dan Edward van Vliet bewoont; één van Nederlands meest bekende en succesvolle ontwerpers van dit moment. This particular residence is home to none other than Edward van Vliet, one of the Netherlands’ best-known and most successful designers of the moment. As well as being his personal living space, the residence serves as a sort of laboratory to test his latest product designs by putting them to practical use.The house features numerous eye-catching showpieces designed by Van Vliet for Moroso, Kvadrat, Moooi, and many other leading brands.

Het spreekt voor zich dat ook de in 2015 door Edward van Vliet ontworpen serie deurbeslag ‘Nour’ van FORMANI vertegenwoordigd is. Pronkstukken zijn de twee espagnoletten die de twee deuren naar de tuin verfraaien.Buiten de espagnoletten is ook de rest van de serie, zoals deurkrukken, meubelgrepen, jashaken, grepen en toiletgarnituren, conceptmatig toegepast. De kleurenmix van goud en zwart en de subtiele vormen van Nour geven karakter aan de deuren én aan de woning als geheel.

Developed for FORMANI, his Nour range of door fittings is a prominent part of the collection and features a pièce de résistance in the pair of espagnolette bolts that grace the two garden doors.Naturally, the lever handles, cabinet handles, coat hooks, and toilet locks form part of the overall concept alongside the espagnolette bolts. Nour’s colour combination of gold and black, together with its subtle lines, add character not just to the doors but to the entire home.

De deurkrukken, in mat goud met zwarte handvaten, vormen een knipoog naar het verleden waarin de deuren vaak voorzien waren van klassieke deurkrukken met zwarte (vaak ebbenhouten) handvaten. Nour is dan ook een klassiek-moderne variant van wat door velen een jaren ’30 deurkruk wordt genoemd. Buiten de link met het verleden wordt met het design van Nour ook duidelijk een knipoog naar Azië gemaakt, waar Edward veel inspiratie vandaan haalt.

The lever handles in matt gold with black grips remind us of a time past when doors were fitted with traditional black, often ebony handles. As such, Nour can be seen as a classic yet modern variant of what many people would call a 1930s door handle. But along with this link to history, there is also a clear Asian influence – a region from which Edward van Vliet draws much of his inspiration.

Eén van de sterke punten en typische kenmerken van Nour is de flexibiliteit die het ontwerp biedt. Zo is de serie modulair opgebouwd waarbij de handvaten vervangbaar zijn en andere kleuren toepasbaar zijn. Hierdoor zijn een aantal prachtige combi’s van gepolijst rvs, PVD mat goud, mat zwart en mat wit beschikbaar.

One of Nour’s particular characteristics, and also one of its strengths, is the design’s inherent flexibility. The range has a modular structure, so that the grips can be replaced and other colours substituted. This allows for a variety of wonderful combinations of polished stainless steel, PVD matt gold, matt black, and matt white.

In het Noord-Hollandse Bergen, rustend tegen de adembenemende duinen, is het eeuwenoude, idyllische landgoed Het Hof gelegen. Het landgoed met het monumentale pand ademt geschiedenis en is tot vandaag de dag een geliefde ontmoetings- en belevingsplek. De hoftuin zorgt voor een betoverende oase van rust.

In the town of Bergen in North Holland, nestled between the magnificent dunes, lies the historic and picturesque Het Hof country estate. This country estate is home to a monumental building that exudes a sense of history and remains a popular place to meet and take in the beautiful surroundings to this very day. The garden on the estate is an enthralling oasis of tranquillity.

A CREATIVE RETREAT IN NATURE


Naast een rijke natuur zijn kunst en cultuur kenmerkend voor Bergen. De invloed voert terug naar de kunstenaars die zich in het begin van de twintigste eeuw in Bergen vestigden. Deze kunstenaarskolonie ontwikkelde zich in de eerste helft van de vorige eeuw tot invloedrijke groep. De schilders uit die tijd, waaronder John Rädecker en Charley Toorop, behoren tot de Bergense School. Behalve schilders herbergde Bergen bekende Nederlandse schrijvers, dichters en architecten. In de salons en op de patio’s van de statige herenhuizen filosofeerden zij. Deze traditie vormt de basis van het concept van Edward van Vliet voor landgoed Het Hof.

Bergen is characterized by lush nature and a rich history of art and culture which can be traced back to the artists that settled in Bergen at the start of the twentieth century. This artists’ colony became an influential group during this period. These painters which included famous Dutch artists such as John Rädecker and Charley Toorop defined the Bergen School of art. Bergen was also home to famous Dutch writers, poets, and architects. Here, these intellectuals would gather and ruminate in the salons and on the patios of stately mansions. This rich tradition is the concept used by Edward van Vliet for Het Hof country estate.

NEOCLASSIC REFLECTIONVoor dit project koos architect Edward van Vliet voor doorware die hij zelf voor FORMANI® ontwierp. Doorware die als een verborgen parel het concept polijst, of zoals Van Vliet het zelf omschrijft: ‘My door fittings are the hidden gems of the architectural layers.’ De neoklassieke stijl van de doorware voert terug naar de vervlogen tijden van de kunstenaarskolonie. De moderne uitstraling sluit aan bij de eigentijdse functie die Het Hof vandaag de dag vervult. De koperkleur weerspiegelt de omliggende natuur die zich met de seizoenen meebeweegt.

Het Hof is een neoklassiek herenhuis omgeven door prachtige tuinen. Het landgoed maakt deel uit van de blooming Groep. Kunst, cultuur en natuur komen in sterke mate in het interieurconcept terug. Een interieur dat aanmoedigt tot inspirerende ontmoetingen en momenten van reflectie.

Edward van Vliet selected the door fittings that he designed for FORMANI® for this project. And as Van Vliet explains, ‘My door fittings are the hidden gems of the architectural layers.’ The neoclassical style of the door fittings harks back to the time of the artists’ colony. Yet, the modern look flawlessly integrates with the contemporary function of Het Hof. The copper reflects the surrounding landscape that moves and shifts with the seasons.

Het Hof is a neoclassical mansion surrounded by exquisite gardens. The country estate is part of the blooming hotel group. Art, culture, and nature are a dominant theme in the interior concept which encourages inspirational encounters and moments of reflection.
