Economic impactShakespeare-in-the-Park prepares actors for a career in Montreal and beyond, contributing to both the cultural vitality of our city and to Montreal’s reputation as a cultural hub that in turn attracts more talent and investment. Many Shakespeare-in-the-Park alumni have gone on to work with local theatre companies like the Centaur and Segal, as well as Cirque du Soleil. They’ve also become key players in the video-game industry, in television, and film - both here and abroad. What’s more, many have gone on to prolific careers in French-language movies and television shows, including Les Jeunes loups, 19-2, Toute la vérité, Trauma, Yamaska, J’ai tué ma mere, just to name a few.

“Tout à fait agréable, pour les 7 à 77 ans, une soirée complète de théâtre à la belle étoile : celle de l’insaisissable et intemporelle substance shakespearienne.”- Yves Rousseau, Le Quartrième

Building communityIn a world dominated by constant interruptions and social media, Shakespeare offers a refreshingly dignified perspective on the human experience. His themes are universal and timeless - they speak to our innate intelligence and our compassion for one other.

Repercussion Theatre is committed to holding a mirror up to Montreal, a community that prides itself on diversity. Our performances explore this dynamic city’s multi-lingual and multi-cultural identity - and exploration that is central to our ability to understand one another as citizens and neighbours. Between Shakespeare’s poetic investigation of what it means to be human and our contemporary stagings of his work, we invite our audiences to contemplate the role of the arts in their lives, to value difference, and to engage in community-building together.
