NEWSLETTER
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back everyone.
I hope this newsletter finds you all well, warm and dry. It has been a wonderful start to the new term with many excited
children and families who have officially joined us this week. We welcome Liam in Year 4, Toby in Year 1 and our
Reception students Charlie, Tyler, Isabella, Lucas, Zahlia, Aiden, Piper, Chris, Nick and Leila and their families to our
community.
Our new Reception students have been learning many things in their first week at school. Here are just some of the
things they have enjoyed this week:
Chris – I drew a rainbow mouse that climbs trees.
Aiden – I enjoyed learning about football with friends.
Lucas – I kicked the footy at playtime. I kicked a goal.
Piper – I enjoyed learning the letter sounds. I know ‘s’ for snake and ‘a’ for ant.
Charlie – I have enjoyed running and chasing some friends at play time. I caught them.
Zahlia – I have enjoyed playing outside, writing numbers and drawing on the white boards.
Tyler – I have been learning about basketball and cricket bats. At play time I played with the basketball on the bricks.
Niki – I enjoyed dancing at school with my friends. It was fun.
Leila – I have been learning letters, the sounds and their actions. My favourite is the ‘i’ sound from the mouse spilling
the black ink on itself.
Isabella will let us know her thinking when she returns after being unwell.
Keep up the wonderful learning everyone.
Master Planning and Nature Play Update
During the term break we continued our work to ensure our master planning process continues which will enable us to
develop the nature play spaces. A selection panel comprising of parents, leadership and Catholic Education SA
representation met to decide which architect we will be working with during the next phase of this important process.
We are looking forward to working with John Held from Russell Yelland in the coming weeks to develop a whole of site
plan to inform and guide further developments across our site, including the nature play development.
Berry Street Education Professional Learning
As you will recall from the last newsletter, our last two days of term 2 were spent at school engaging in professional
learning alongside our colleagues from Emmaus Catholic School, Galilee Catholic School, St John the Apostle Catholic
School, All Saints Catholic School and Cardijn College. Next year we will meet again for a further two days to continue
learning about the Berry Street Education Model to provide further tools and strategies promoting student wellbeing
and academic progress. Our staff have already started to engage in some of these strategies this week and we will
continue to work in our teams to implement these strategies. Please keep an eye on SeeSaw to see what your child’s
home groups are learning.
Information Technology Upgrades
During the term break our school IT system hardware underwent some further upgrades to improve connectivity and
possibilities for utilising technologies to support teaching and learning. I would like to acknowledge Brendan Harris and
Damien Aplin from the CESA IT team who ensured these developments were carried out in a timely and professional
manner. We are blessed to have Brendan working with us on a weekly basis at Antonio. These upgrades will also enable
us to upgrade devices that students and teachers use to support their teaching and learning in the coming weeks and
months. The first phase of the device upgrades will begin with staff and the Years 3-6 students. Further information will
be shared with our community in the coming weeks.
Student Parent Teacher Learning Conversations
During the next two weeks we are conducting learning conversations so that we can discuss your child’s learning
progress as communicated in their written report at the end of term 2. These conversations will provide an opportunity
for you to clarify, ask questions and set goals which we can work in partnership to support your child to achieve. If you
have not booked in a time, please do so using the online interview details provided to you with your child’s report. Our
staff look forward to meeting with you soon.
Upcoming Principal Tours
We are looking forward to conducting a tour of our wonderful learning community in the coming weeks for interested
families. These tours provide a great opportunity for families to see the wonderful learning and facilities as well as ask
questions.
I will be conducting Principal Tours on:
Tuesday 13th August 9.30-10.30am
Wednesday 4th September 9.30-10.30am
Saturday 7th September 10.00-11.00am
Please pass this on to your friends who are considering a school for their child. Families can book into a tour by phoning us on
8325 4500 or through visiting our school website.
Can You Help with Transport?
We have a family who are living in Concorde Drive at Old Reynella who do not have transport to get to and from school. If you
can help them with a lift to or from school please let our front office staff know.
It has been a wonderful start to the new term and I thank you for supporting your children and our staff. Your children
certainly benefit from this positive partnership we can have with you.

PARENTS, FRIENDS & COMMUNITY
SCHOOL PHOTOS Tuesday 6th August Please make sure that you arrange your child’s photo order before August 6th or bring the money into school on Photo Day. Parents can send the money to the school in the self-sealed envelope supplied however On-Line Ordering, where parents are now able to select their preferred package online makes it much easier for our parent community. Placing your child’s order online is the safest & easiest way to order school photos. Just enter the shootkey printed on your child’s envelope and make your selection! If you are having a Sibling photo taken, do the same with the shootkey printed on that envelope (envelopes available from schools front office) and you’re done. It really is that easy!
BBQ will resume in Week 2. Look for order forms on Fridays in your child’s bag. Orders need to be returned with payment on Wednesdays. Don’t forget to organise your tickets for the Quiz Night.
Loads of fun and great prizes! If you need help to make up a table please let us know

GARDENING CORNER Hi to all the Antonio Community Well, welcome back to Term 3 Being the cold months and having soil temperatures below 15 degrees C, nothing much is growing EXCEPT the weeds !!! It is so lovely to have the opportunity to have chooks at our school. When I come here on Tuesdays we always have at least 20 students who love to come out at recess and lunch and have the opportunity to interact and hold the hens. And then we have the “diggers” who love to get a spade or trowel and just dig holes in the dirt. Of course both groups have their questions – “Bob, do chooks like bugs ?” (They know they like worms !!) Hi to the new parents to the school, I hope some of you have children that are enjoying the garden (and chook) facilities. Now, do any parents have parents that are retired and perhaps looking for something a little different to do. Well here is an opportunity, drag them along to school on a Tuesday and bring them over to the garden area to meet me, Peter or Rod, our regular workers. We are always looking for additional helpers. Mums are not excluded, they can be a big help in the garden and supply ideas on what to do with the produce we grow. The time spent with the children is so rewarding. It is our privilege to be there. If you can’t be there on Tuesday, leave your contact details with Tracy or Di in the front office. In the mean time – try a LITTLE gardening ! Bob – Volunteer Gardener
We sincerely thank Bob, Peter and Rod for their amazing efforts in our garden areas and their care during interactions with our students is truly appreciated. I believe that they enjoy their time here too. Winners all round you might say!
