Greenhousefor Anthurium Young Plants

Anthura has a unique greenhouse for the production of Anthurium young plants. Regal architecture and ultramodern techniques are typical features of this greenhouse.

The design is inspired by the Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew in London and the complex includes modern innovative technologies which guarantee the optimum climate control in the greenhouse. As the greenhouse is fully equipped with the specific requirements of Anthurium young plants in mind, strong and healthy young plants are guaranteed.

Anthura has a demonstration greenhouse, Anthura Flower, where growers can see over 200 Anthurium varieties for the cut flower and pot plant culture, including promising novelties.

All varieties are carefully tested and inspected, as we attempt to determine the ideal cultivation conditions for each variety. Our experts continuously focus on the optimal climate conditions, fertilisation, air humidity, cultivation medium and plant care. Of course, growers should bear in mind their own climate conditions and adapt the circumstances in our demonstration greenhouse to their own.

CultivationGuides Anthura feels strongly about providing good information and proper guidance for every grower to achieve successful cultivation. Therefore we have published several extensive cultivation guides about how to grow Anthurium pot plants and cut flowers.

The horticultural advisors of Bureau IMAC were closely involved in the publication of the guides. These guides offer novice growers step-by-step guidance and are regarded as useful reference works for experienced growers to ensure successful cultivation.

Anthura has a unique cooperation with Bureau IMAC Bleiswijk B.V., a well-known specialist international horticultural consultancy agency.

IMAC is an independent knowledge centre for both Anthurium and Phalaenopsis cultivation. The horticultural advisors each have their own special area of expertise. This collaboration with Anthura allows the mutual exchange of valuable knowledge.

IMAC offers growers the following services:• Technical and business advice on cultivation• Supervision of study and registration groups• Research and examination for diseases • Fertilisation analysis and advice• Visiting growers

Young leaf breaking (YLB)In collaboration with Bureau IMAC, Anthura has instigated a fundamental change in the traditional cultivation method of Anthurium cut flowers.

The new technology of young leaf breaking has been further developed in the last few years and it is almost impossible to imagine modern cultivation without this technique. The technique of removing the young leaves at an early stage while the older, hardened leaves are retained on the plant is nowadays more common practice than the exception.

The new technique yields considerable advantages: • Increase in flower size and quality. • Higher production for most varieties as a result of a

more efficient use of dry matter by the crop.• Easy to adapt, increased efficiency• Suitable for both young and older plants

The advantages of this YLB technique vary according to the variety. See the extensive index in the back for advice on YLB. Innovation in the horticultural sector is evident; in the last few years, growers have already been successfully applying a new variant of this technique.
