Anjali & Riki
Thank you for taking the 0me to read our profile. We hope that this book gives you a sense of what it's like to be a member of our family, but we know these profiles may all blend together a li>le bit, so here are the basics: We love each other. Not everything in our lives has been easy, but being together always has, even when we lived in different states for three years (more than a decade ago now). We love paren0ng. We both have careers, and we care about what we do for a living, but we really love working together to raise our son, Alex. Being moms is what makes us complete. We will love your baby. We are hoping to adopt, because we have more love to give to another child. This baby will make our family whole.
FAMILY
Anjali I have loved Anjali for more than half of my life. She is a great mom and a great partner, and she fixes my computer whenever it breaks. Perfect! Anjali makes up games for all the kids when we get together and runs with the kids shou0ng 'Buzz' for the new "bees game". Anjali is our family's social manager. She spent 6 months planning our trip to the amusement park! And she plans and books the vaca0on we take with our friends every year. She is also the most pa0ent person I know. She's great at just siPng and reading a book while I get fidgety easily. I bet everyone in these profiles pretends they have a perfect marriage. We don't have perfect; We just have forever.
Riki From the first 0me I met Riki, she has been encouraging me to try new things. Whether it's trying new food(s) to traveling all over the world! Riki is one of the most caring and percep0ve people I've ever known. She is constantly thinking of others and taking into account what they are feeling. This makes her a wonderful partner and mother. Riki is also brilliant, she completed her Ph.D in Social Psychology at Northwestern University. There is no problem that she can't solve!
Alex Alex is our 3 year old son. He is so excited to be a big brother! Anjali had Alex in 2013, and Riki adopted Alex officially in 2014. Now our life is all about playdates and family ac0vi0es. We look forward to comple0ng our family with a new baby.
HOME
Playdate Central When we said playdates, we weren't kidding. We love to get
together and play with other families every weekend.
The kids like to roll around in the toy boxes. They call those the "choo choos".
Since Riki likes to cook, the grownups usually get to snack on
homemade bagels or chips and dip.
Family is Everything. We are both close with our families. Anjali's parents are from India, and her Indian heritage is important to her. Riki has even learned to cook Indian food from Anjali's mom so we can eat it all the 0me. Anjali's brother, Aditya, loves being an uncle, and he can't wait for another nephew to spoil. He likes to get the noisy or messy toys. Thanks, Aditya!
Riki's family lives in Colorado, and we're sorry they're so far away, but it's always worth it when we get to travel to beau0ful Colorado to see them. The new baby will have two cousins. Riki’s brother has two boys: Gideon, who loves to read, and Liran who s0ll pre>y much does whatever Gideon says.
COMMUNITY
Anjali is the one in the hat with the ears. Riki is inside where it is warm.
We love our neighbors! The neighborhood does a Halloween parade in the park every year. Alex was Dory this year. During a blizzard this year, everyone spent the whole day shoveling and then they all got together for a chat. The picture is not out of focus-‐-‐that's a white-‐out blizzard.
Out and About We chose our home because it's in a great neighborhood with easy access to the city. We live on the Washington Metro, so we can take the train into town.. We like to try restaurants and ac0vi0es as a family. We are members of the Na0onal Zoo in Washington DC and the children's museum in Bal0more.
THANK YOUWe asked Alex to draw this special picture to thank you again for taking the 0me to read our profile. Obviously, the new baby will be bringing all
the ar0s0c talent to the family!
