CAREER HISTORY 2008For my honors, I had to do a research project and write a script comprising, an explorative study concerning communication issues
and obstacles in nursing unit management, which consisted of 50 pages. It was a literature study where I had to interpret data to write the script.
2009After completing my studies, I went to the UK to gain work experience and did extensive
traveling in England and Scotland.
I worked as a waitress in a Silver Service Restaurant at the Borrowdale Hotel in
the Lake District (Cumbria) for 4 months.
I worked as a general assistant at the Loch Melfort Hotel near Oban in Scotland. My job
included housekeeping and waitressing.
I worked in London as a service professional for The Listening Company in the Route To Market department for three months. I worked in the call
centre where I did inbound calls on behalf of SKY.
2010 - New Vehicle Sales Executive
After a year in the UK I came back to South Africa to start my career. I got a job as a sales
executive at McCarthy Mitsubishi Motors Brooklyn. Apart from selling cars I had a lot of admin and filing to adhere to as part of my daily tasks. Time management and meeting deadlines are also 2 of
the main aspects of selling cars which I achieved timeously. I also gained valuable experience in customer service dealing with the daily clients.
2012 – Broker Relations OfficerI got an opportunity to broaden my horizon and
make use of my qualification. I was appointed as a Broker Relations Officer at a company called Smart Client Services (Its main goal for each individual client is optimal client retention through
excellence in customer care and interaction.) Their biggest client is Umvuzo Health. My
responsibilities were to interact with, train and assist all brokers that had a contract with Umvuzo Health. I was the ‘middle man’ between Umvuzo Health and the brokers. I wrote my RE 5 Rep exam and passed. My daily tasks included:
- Assisting with all queries- Excel reports as and when needed (Client
request stats and the Broker provide the information that are gathered and done by me)
- Broker training on the Umvuzo Health medical aid options
- Monthly visits to brokers
2014 – Executive assistantIt is within this position that I realised my passion
which is helping someone at that level to better achieve their daily tasks and contributing to their success by assisting them. I got the opportunity while working at the same company mentioned above, only in another department. I assist two main role players (The MD of three companies
and the Head of Sales). I am a fast learner and immediately knew what was expected of me. I learn a lot from these two great mentors and they push me out of my comfort zone on a regular
basis. My daily tasks include:- Administrative support- Organise and Manage diaries and maintain
daily schedules- Schedule and arrange meetings- Compose, type and distribute meeting notes- Maintain paper and electronic filing system - Build and consolidate presentations - Prepare presentation packs- Adhoc and personal requests- Plan and coordinate
