JOB TASKS

Deliver Anesthesia to patients before, during, and/or after a medical procedure

Provide and maintain life support and airway management and help prepare patients for emergency surgery.

Prescribe medications for patients after surgery

Explain to patients about an upcoming medical procedure

Take vital signs

Coordinate and direct work of nurses, medical technicians, and other health care providers.

Teach students or staff members Anesthesiology practices

JOB EXPECTATIONS

Stressful work days but flexible hours

Up to 12 hour long work days plus being “on call” for 24 hours in case of emergencies

Typically receive several weeks of paid vacation time per year and they aren’t expected to be accessible on their days off.
