Quadrate lobeIt is a rectangular part of the

inferior surface of liver. It isbounder by:

    -inferior border of liver (inf).

-porta hepatis (post)-gall bladder fossa (on the

    right)

    -fissure for ligam.teres (on left

    side)*It is related to: transverse

colon (ant), pylorus& 1st partof duodenum (middle) andlesser omentum (post)

Porta hepatisy It forms the hilum of the

liver. Anteriorly, it isbounded by quadrate lobeand posteriorly, by caudatelobe and process.

    yStructures passing throughit:

    a. Hepatic ducts: ant. Inposition.

    b. Hepatic artery: intermediate

in position.c. Portal vein: posterior inposition.

    d. Lymphatics.y It gives attachment to

    lesser omentum.

Blood supply of livery It receives blood from

    two sources:

1- Hepatic arteries whichdivides into right , leftbranches.

2- Portal vein: whichdivides into right , leftbranches.

y The venous drainage isby three hepatic veins

which terminate in theIVC( right, left, middle).

    Embryonic reminants1- Ligamentum teres:

It connects the umblicuswith the left branch ofportal vein. It representsthe obliterated umblical

    vein.

2- Ligamentumvenosum:It connects the left branch

of portal vein with theIVC. . It represents theobliterated ductus

    venosus.

    Hepatic segmentationy

It depends on the vasculardistribution to the liver.

y It is divided into right and leftlobes by an emaginary linepassing through IVC and fossaof gall bladder. This includecaudate , quadrate lobes as partsof left lobe.

y ight lobe is divided into ant, post and intermediatesegments.

y Left lobe is divided into lateralpart (Ant, Post) and medial partincluding porta hepatis(central), caudate (Post) andquadrate lobe (ant).
