• Deformations of the basic toe joint, due to wrong or excessive load, are quitecommon, especially among female patients. One of the most common cl inical pictures is hallux valgus, a deformation of the big toe.

• Shoes tha t are too narrow, high-heeled or too small do not give the big toe anyroom for a natural position causing it to be pushed laterally, with the ball strongly protruding medially. If the foot remains constantly in this unnatural position, a permanen t deformation will develop. Without correction, the big toe will not be able to return to its natural position anymore. 1. Unfasten both straps and slide sock over foot and calf with the calf band centered on the front of the leg. The sock should rest just under the knee and should notbe pulled so tightly that it comes over the knee.

2. Fasten the calf band closure so it is comfortably secured.3. Rest foot on the floor at a 90-degree ankle and pull the adjustable dorsiflexion

strap so that it lifts the toes up approximately 1” off the floor. CAUTION: DO NOTPULL TIGHT OR OVERSTRETCH THE TOES.

4. You will not feel a noticeable stretch in this position. The dorsiflexion strap willprovide a gentle stretch naturally as the foot slowly begins to contract and the toes extend downward. If the sock feels uncomfortable or too tight, slightlyloosen the dorsiflexion strap.

The Swede-O X8 ankle brace has patented features for ease of use and maximum support. The X8 utilizes twin dual-purpose straps instead of the usual four-strap design. The exclusive dual-purpose straps serve as both the figure-eight straps and the top locking straps. This unique strap design is also pre-positioned half way through the figure-eight configuration for easier application and to ensure proper placement. The Tarsal Lok combines the superior comfort of a lace-up brace with the greater support provided by a rigid brace. The patented design of the built-in stabilizer provides ankle support while allowing normal range of motion. The stabilizer will actually mold to the shape of the ankle simply from body heat for a more conforming, custom fit. The speed lacing system allows for quick and easy application of the brace. The outer brace material is Poly-Tex, an abrasion resistant and extremely durable fabric. The inner brace is ballistic nylon with internal laminated foam that provides both strength and comfort.
