We have assessed in excess of 20,000 individuals and our assessment methodology has won recognition as one of the most thorough and incisive in the business. YSC assessments – used for hiring and developing senior level talent – provide rich, substantial insights into an individual’s distinctive qualities, their spike strengths and their stretches. Tailored towards top management teams and other senior executives, our experienced consultants conduct the process with your business objectives, culture and organisational values front of mind.

Our assessment methodology

• A pre-brief and debrief with the business leader and/or HR business partner commissioning the assessment to ensure we are immersed in the business context.

• An in-person, half-day biographical assessment during which we explore the individual’s career and background, achievements, performance, influences and challenges as well as the personal and psychological characteristics that underpin the person’s success. We also use psychometric tools to gain a deeper understanding of the individual. The information gathered from the psychometrics is fed back during the assessment and used to promote further discussion.

• A report describing the person’s characteristics, job-relevant strengths, development needs and longer-term potential.

• An optional two hour feedback and coaching session which provides an opportunity to discuss the report and start building on the insights it offers.

Development. When people are your most valuable asset, unlocking their full potential is vitally important.

Executive Coaching

Our executive coaches enable business leaders to unleash their full potential, overcome challenges and personal impediments and move forward for the benefit of the organisation. We provide executive coaching based on the following principles:

• Coaching is concerned with tangible improvements in personal effectiveness. It is primarily future-focused, applying techniques and insights that make a positive and profound difference to business performance.

• Our coaching process aims to achieve alignment between business values and personal values, between leadership requirements and leadership position, and between business goals and personal goals.

• Our coaches are recognised for their combination of interpersonal and commercial expertise.

• We work to tailored coaching contracts aimed at addressing specific developmental objectives as defined by the client organisation and agreed by the individual. A typical contract would be six

coaching sessions over six months to work on three or four objectives.

• Regular ‘check backs’ with the individual’s manager and/or corporate sponsor to ensure progress is being made in the right direction.

Team Effectiveness

Putting people together to work on a task doesn’t make a team. It is our experience that whilst truly effective teams outstrip the productivity of individuals working alone, an ineffective team is more destructive to an organisation than individual contributors falling short. Life gets complicated working in large, global, matrixed organisations. Senior executives belong to and lead multiple teams that straddle functions, geographies and products. As such, the need for well-functioning teams is critical.

Over time we have created a range of approaches for developing high performing teams. We start by understanding the team’s business objectives and where they fit in with company strategy. Our next step is to gain a thorough insight into the individuals in the team and diagnose

how they work together collectively. We go beyond simple team dynamics to explore issues such as the team’s ability to deliver and sustain optimum performance, its clarity of focus and alignment, the manner in which the team lives the value of continuous improvement and how the team interfaces with stakeholders across and outside the organisation.

Based on the outcomes of the diagnosis, we will work with you to tailor a relevant and beneficial team intervention focused not only at enhancing the internal dynamics of the team but also raising the bar on performance through:

• Equipping individuals with pragmatic tools and techniques that they can use with the teams they lead and to which they belong.

• Helping team members gain a much deeper level of insight about their own working style and their colleagues’ in order that they capitalise on their relative strengths.

• Introducing our Relationship model to give individuals the know-how to foster great relationships at work and to influence more effectively.
