Chris has 27 years’ experience within the oil, gas and maritime industries. He has worked/consulted extensively within the field of maritime supply chain management and sea bound international logistics, covering such aspects as port operations; customs regimes; bonded warehousing, the maritime role in multi-modal global transportation and cross docking operations.

Chris is a contracts specialist and an international commercial arbitrator, and has long-term experience with INCOTERMS and other associated documentation. He has the Freedom of the City of London; is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators and a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.

Chris holds an MBA and LLB from the University of Aberdeen, as well as the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators DipICArb. He has over 17 years teaching experience including a number of universities across a wide range of subjects including contracts of marine insurance and Admiralty Law. He has consulted/delivered professional training to clients on such subjects as bunkering and marine fuel sales agreements, as well as delivering advice regarding the commercial ramifications of utilising/chartering/hiring different types of vessels for the international oil and gas industry.

Few businesses truly span the globe and have such a fundamental impact on our daily lives as that of the shipping industry. Every type of commodity and consumer product imaginable is transported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week around the globe, utilizing a complex network of shipping lanes and international maritime routes. The industry is complex, dynamic and multifaceted. Fortunes have been made and lost and the sea is ever an unpredictable mistress – often both lives and property are lost, reminding us all of the inherent nature of risk associated with maritime endeavours.

This course has been specifically designed to introduce this fascinating industry in the most interactive and informative manner – providing the delegate with a level of knowledge that is immediately useful and applicable.
