ABOUT THE MEETINGThe American Diabetes Association’s Scientific Sessions brings together scientists and health care professionals from around the world who are involved in diabetes research and care. The five-day meeting will feature the most timely and significant advances in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diabetes. The program is organized into eight distinctive theme areas and includes presentations by world-renowned diabetes experts.

Attendees will be able to choose from over 3,000 original presentations which include scientific and educational sessions, oral and poster presentations, and special lectures and addresses.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?Physicians, researchers, nurses, nurse practitioners, dietitians, podiatric physicians, pharmacists, psychologists, and other health care professionals involved in diabetes research or the delivery of diabetes care and services will benefit from the comprehensive programming of the 73rd Scientific Sessions.

LOCATION AND DATESAll sessions will take place at the McCormick Place Convention Center (West and South Buildings), 2301 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60616. The program will begin on Friday, June 21 at noon and conclude on Tuesday, June 25 at 12:15 p.m.

Meet the Expert SessionsMeet the Expert Sessions are designed to provide a small number of attendees the opportunity to meet and interact with key opinion leaders. Diabetes experts will facilitate informal discussions on clinical and basic science topics. These sessions will be held on Friday, June 21 at noon and 12:50 p.m.

Professional Section Interest GroupsJoin your colleagues for in-depth discussions and debates on the latest diabetes research and care specific to your specialty. Interest Groups will host hot-topic discussions on Clinical Endocrinology, Diabetes in Youth, Education, Epidemiology and Statistics, Exercise, and Nutritional Science and Metabolism.

Oral and Poster SessionsEach year, the best new basic and clinical science related to diabetes and its complications is presented at the Scientific Sessions in over 380 oral and 1,600 poster presentations. Poster presenters will be available to discuss their research for two hours on an assigned day.

Guided Audio Poster ToursExplore the Poster Hall with Guided Audio Poster Tours. Moderators will lead attendees on one-hour tours, sharing their perspectives and highlighting novel or recent developments in question and answer sessions with poster presenters. Select posters from all abstract categories will be included in the tours.

Interactive Online PostersEach poster in the Poster Hall will have a corresponding QR code on its board. Scanning the barcode with a smartphone or camera-equipped tablet will allow you to access an electronic version of the poster, corresponding abstract, and audio commentary by the presenter (if provided). Computer kiosks will also be located throughout the Poster Hall for electronic poster viewing.

Exhibit HallPlan to visit the world’s largest exposition of diabetes-related products, services, and technology. More than 175 companies will showcase the newest and most innovative products and services available to health care professionals.

Opening Reception—The Chicago Field MuseumChicago’s most exciting and unique setting, the Field Museum will be the venue for the Scientific Sessions Opening Reception. Discover artifacts from civilizations past, explore almost every corner of the globe, learn about new scientific discoveries, and walk away inspired after experiencing Stanley Field Hall.

Enjoying light hors d’oeuvres from three of the Association’s award winning cookbooks—the Asian Flavors Diabetes Cookbook, The Stress Free Diabetes Kitchen, and The Family Classics Diabetes Cookbook, and conversation with your colleagues will make this event a fantastic beginning to the Scientific Sessions.

Tickets are required and will be available at the time of registration at a cost of $25 per attendee and $45 per guest.

NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIESNo other meeting like the Scientific Sessions offers the opportunity to meet and network with your colleagues from across the country or around the world. Here are just a few ways to connect while at the meeting:

•Professional Section Interest Groups ADA members will be able to pick-up ribbons which

indicate their membership in one of the 11 Professional Section Interest Groups. With just a glance, members will be able to create relationships and discuss the latest in diabetes research and care with those who share the same interest.

•Networking Lounges Networking lounges will be located throughout the

Convention Center and will feature special areas for each of our eight distinct theme areas. Each area will feature a variety of seating to help promote lively conversation and discussion.

•Networking Reception Join us Sunday evening from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for

a Networking Reception. Exchange ideas or informally share best practices in a relaxing atmosphere while enjoying the company of your colleagues. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided.

GuestOne guest per full meeting registration is allowed for each registration category, with the exception of One-Day Registrants. Guest Registration includes entrance to the Exhibit Hall, Poster Hall, and non-ticketed social events only. Access to sessions is not permitted, and guests are not eligible for continuing education credit. Children under the age of 18, even if paid registrants, will not be admitted to session rooms or the Exhibit Hall.

Hotel reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reserve your room early for the best options. All hotels require a credit card guarantee. STAY CONNECTED

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITEarn up to 33 Continuing Education Credits. Credit is available for physicians, family physicians, international physicians, podiatric physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, psychologists, dietitians, and certified diabetes educators.

CORPORATE SYMPOSIACorporate Symposia are satellite programs that are planned and conducted by the corporate community in conjunction with the Scientific Sessions. These programs provide attendees with additional education and information opportunities. Registration and symposia information will be available on the Scientific Sessions website in April.

SHUTTLE BUS TRANSPORTATIONShuttle bus transportation will be provided from ADA hotels outside of walking distance to the McCormick Place Convention Center. Attendees who reserve their room within the Scientific Sessions housing block will receive a shuttle pass, enabling them to ride the ADA shuttle system at no additional cost. Those who reserve their rooms through other means will not receive a shuttle pass. Shuttle passes will be available for purchase onsite at the meeting and in advance through the registration site at a cost of $50 per person. The pass is valid throughout the duration of the meeting.
