Welcome to our annual South County fundraiser, which this year is entitled, “There’s No Place Like Home.” Those endearing words speak to our ongoing efforts to serve our families with hope, care and dignity.

This special event enables Alzheimer’s Community Care to help with funding for our core services, which include our ID Locator Bracelet Service and our Education & Training Program. These services embrace the whole community, especially Law Enforcement, as well as several prestigious nursing programs at local and national institutions.

To hear from one caregiver, when a Law Enforcement Officer brought her husband home say, “The officer was so helpful to us. I thought he would be mad, but instead he was so kind and understanding.” Law Enforcement agencies are anxious to help and they do it with compassion and knowledge about the disease and its effects.

Also, our Nursing Practicum Program is most gratifying because we hear such comments from students as, “I have learned so much more because of my hands-on experience, that I think I want to work more with geriatric patients and their families when I graduate.” At this time, almost 200 nurses have received our specialized training. We have even hired nurses through this program...how special is that?

This Luncheon, here at the spectacular St. Andrews Country Club, helps us in celebrating our 20th birthday, as we continue to, “place a safety net around patients and caregivers every day.”

With great humility, we thank you for valuing our local work, our mission and being with us today. I extend deep gratitude to all of our volunteers, supporters and staff who have worked diligently to make this day fun and for one moment in time, “There’s No Place Like Home.”
