We have a new E- Newsletter Alumni Voice for our internet-connected alumni and members. We will continue to send the traditional Alumni Voice newsletters to all mem- bers who do not opt out for E- Newsletters. Also, the board has agreed to a one-time new limited Annual ($30.00) and Life ($250.00) Membership fee structure. The New Annual Membership incentives will end during Homecoming, November 19, 2011. Convention was held in

Austin, Texas, Westin Do-

main Hotel July 20-24,

2011. The week provided

balance between business

and camaraderie, beginning

with the Opening Reception

which included greetings

from local city leaders. The week included Keynote

Speakers State Representative

James White, class of 1986, and

Lieutenant Colonel Antoinette

R. Gant, class of 1994. They

provided insight on leadership

and the significance of alumni

becoming more involved.

The Awards Ceremony was the

highlight of the week, recogniz-

ing the financial contributions

and volunteer efforts of our

dedicated members throughout

the United States. The Chapter

of the Year was awarded to

Prairie View Nurses Chapter.

Dr. George Erwin Brown, Sr.

class of 1961 was award Fac-

ulty Member of the Year for his

devotion to Prairie View A&M

University and students over

the past 34 years. He is a ten-

ured Distinguished Professor of

Biology, his philanthropic ef-

forts have led to over $4 M in

grants and contributions sup-

port to the Biology Department.

The most prestigious award,

Prometheus Award recognizes

alumni who has demonstrated

outstanding achievement in his

profession, and garnered recog-
