Dirt Pick-Up and Colour Retention

IndependentTestFindings,indicatedonthegraphopposite,showthelevelofdirtpick-upofAltroSupremaIIcompared with two competitor safety flooring products containing a PUR treatment.

Test

ThefullyrecognisedBSILaboratorySoilingTest, ISO11378-2:2001,employingamodifiedHexapodTumbler Tester, was used.

Test procedure

• Thecolourofeachsafetyflooringspecimenwas recordedusingaChromaMeterIIreflectance spectrophotometer

• Allspecimenswereadheredtotheinsideofthe HexapodTumbler

• 250gofsoiledpolymerpellets+1000gofchrome alloy steel balls were added to the tumbler to simulate normal wear conditions

• Thetumblerwasautomaticallyrotatedfor30minutes

• Thesafetyflooringspecimenswereremoved

• Eachspecimenwasvacuumcleanedaftertesting, before the degree of soiling was determined

• Colourbrightnesswasre-measuredinsixrandomareas of each specimen to establish dirt pick-up and colour retention

Test result

TestsproveAltroSupremaIIpicksuplessdirtandtherefore retains its colour better and longer than the other tested PUR treated safety floorings. No dirt collects around particles, due to surface construction.

Test procedure

• Acceleratedwearwassimulatedusingalinearmotion washability and wear tester with a 3M Scotchbrite abrasive pad mounted on the bottom of the friction boat anda1kgweightappliedtocreateevenaccelerated wear.Upto40,000cycleswerecarriedoutwiththe slip resistance measured after the number of cycles indicated opposite

• The"pendulum"slipresistancetestusesaStandard Simulated Shoe Sole Rubber or Slider 96, which sweeps over a set area of wet flooring in a controlled manner

• Theslipperinessoftheflooringhasadirectand measurable effect on the pendulum value

• Equipmentusedwas theGardco12VFI linear motion washability and wear tester and slip tested withaTRRL pendulum tester

Test results

Testsprovethatafteracceleratedwear(40,000cycles)AltroSupremaIIhasmaintaineditslowslippotentialand the PUR is still effective at this point, providing stain resistance and cleanability.

The products of Competitors A and B were not tested beyond20,000cyclesastheirlevelofslipresistancehadalreadyfallenbelowtheHSE’sguidelinemeasurement for slip resistance of 36 or above.

Uniquely,AltroSupremaIIstillmaintainsitslowslippotentialafter40,000cycles.

Furthermore,resultsclearlyshowthattheperformanceof the PUR coating on competitor products is not maintained to initial manufactured levels.

Thetesthousestatesthat5,000cyclesisequivalentto approximately two years in normal usage conditions.

Stain and Chemical resistance Stain resistance is a key criterion of specification. As Altro safety flooring is installed in a variety of tough, demanding locations, which can be prone to a host of spillages, it is essential that Altro Easyclean Maxis PUR provides excellent resistance to staining and chemicals.

To check the resistance of Altro Easyclean Maxis PUR to a range of chemicals, please contact Altro Technical Services, who will be pleased to supply a full list of the chemicals that have been tested.

Test results

Both sets of tests prove Altro Easyclean Maxis PUR shows greater resistance to mild and dilute acids, alkalis, soaps and detergents with most stains being completely removed, compared to non-PUR treated safety flooring.
